Isaiah 40;31

Isaiah 40:31 is the verse of which I wrote this: My husband while in Alaska several yrs ago had watched an Eagle glide with the wind. He then mentioned how the little birds struggled but the Eagle went along with no care in the world... As I was thinking today about some things this brief and yet not very poetic poem came to be.....

If you could for a moment think like an Eagle,
The eagle glides above the winds,
The eagle doesn't fight the wind, he lets it carry him through the storm.

We as the Eagle can through Jesus do the same,
If we depend on Jesus Christ to carry us through the storm,
We have no need to worry or fight the "wind"
We can do ALL things through Christ.

So as we go through this life,
As the Eagle lets the wind carry him along
Let the Lord carry you through the trials of life.

Who's your only hope?

Psalm 68:13, 119:105
I Corinthians 15:54-55
II Corinthians 3:18

These passages go along with this thought:

You are my only hope
for all things that endure:

For silver wings that fly me to freedom
For golden light that illumines my path
For eternal life that negates the sting of death
For ongoing change that sows blessings in fertile ground
For perfect love that perfects your image in me

You, My Lord, are my Only hope!!

The way things are in this old world, who do we place our hope in? Normally one will recap their year in Dec or maybe in January look back to the yr before. Well, I was asked the other day, how do you keep going after ALL that has happened to your family, your church, an so many other things.

I replied, first of all, I have the Lord who saved me and has given me strenght to get through the year. Also he is my hope, my peace, my joy, my strength, my comforter and I could go on.
Secondly I said, I have a husband who loves me and is there for me through the good and the bad.
Thirdly I have my church - Yes my church had some problems but you know what it's not that building - the church is the people.... Our church family has loved each other, cared for each other, encouraged. Yes, changes came but we still love each other!! We are a family!!

These are a few things I shared with this person. So it's not just who do you put your hope into, but who do lean on, depend on, look to, go to with all your cares, worries, hurts, blessings... GOD!!!

Yea, we had a rough year, no job for over 7 mo, BUT God took care of us!
Yes, we lost our house, BUT God provided another home.
Yes, we found out 9 months later we had to move again, BUT God opened a door that ONLY I believe ONLY he open.

Now we are serving in a country church where today, we started the Teen Soul Winning program!! God is Good!!!!!!

So don't worry about the bad, look on the Good!!

Heart Secrets

In the deepest corners of my heart
Are secrets locked away,
Secrets no one knows but God,
Old tapes that play and play.

My soul cries, "God, don't go in there,
It hurts, I cannot last,"
His Spirit answers, "Peace, be still
And do not fear the past."

The Healing Surgeon wields His knife,
As he carves before the cure,
My heart, it bleeds slow drops of tears
And with them leaves all fear.

"My God, why do you hurt me so
And cause my heart to weep?"
"My precious one, because I'm love,
Choose to live and I'll cut deep.

I bore your pain, your tears and fears,
Upon my body sore,
You're free to let all secrets go,
As we unlock your heart's door."

Knowing for sure you're going to Heaven...

Good morning friends,

Our church just finished a GREAT wk of Revival Services. It was neat for me because it's been a long time since I was in a church where it was the "old time revival type mtgs" I remember growing up and attending Revival services that were a wk or more. The services we had in our
church, which is a country church, was GREAT!!

During the wk, we had a dear friend of the family receive Christ as his personal Saviour. This young man back in Aug had a close shave with death after being hit by a car. Archie, on Monday night accepted Christ as Saviour. Then on Wed night our son, Samuel, received the assurance of his salvation!! God is so good!!!

May I ask, Do you know for sure that you are going to heaven? We don't know when the Lord will say, "it's your turn to die".
If you haven't accepted Christ in Christ into your heart here's what you do:
1. Realize that you are sinner: Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned and come short of he glory of God."
2. Realize the payment for your sin: Romans 6:23 - "For the wages of sin is death...." the death here is talking of eternal separation from God.
3. Believe that Jesus died on the Cross and rose again. Romans 5:8 - "But God commendeth his love toward us in that, while we yet sinners Christ died for us."
4. Trust in Christ and Him alone. Romans 6:23 - "...but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.'
Romans10:13 - "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."
The gift is free you don't have to work for it! Salvation is FREE all you need is the faith to believe that God Himself, Loved you enough to Die for YOU so that YOU would not have to suffer in Hell for your own sins!!!!

If you, friend, have read this and believe that Jesus saves, please contact me and let me know of your decision so I can rejoice with you.

Do you behave wisely?

Psalm 101:2 "I will behave wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.

This morning as we were picking out a passage of scripture to memorize I had chosen one and then one of the boys asked can memorize PS 100. Sure why not, so I told them I'd like to write out PS 100 once. One of the boys were almost done with their assignment when he realized he had written PS 101 as he handed it to me and I was reading it verse 2 said it all!!

So our theme verse for this yr is PS 101:2 - my kids behave well, and general don't do a whole lot to be disciplined for. However every now and then they will be kids and not obey. Well, I must say this morning was a rough morning for them. Not sure why but they were just being good. So where the verse says "...within my house....." I told the boys this can also be "within my school". No matter where we are we are to behave wisely and with a perfect heart.

Now I realize NONE of us are perfect, but we can do our best and strive to have a perfect heart in our house, in our work place, in our school, in our time of play, even in our marriages, dating relationships, ANYTHING in life we can strive to have a perfect heart.

So as a thought for not only today but ALL days "...behave wisely...." "walk within my House with a perfect heart."

Love One another

This past Wed night our new Pastor preached out of I John 3 & 4. It was a great message and one of the things that really stuck was "love one another".

I think as Christians most of us do love one another. We should love the unlovable, the lovable, the homeless, the rich, no matter who the person is we are to Love them.

Chapter 4:7 "Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
8 He that loveth not knoweth not God: for God is love.

Just food for thought, make sure you are loving one another that is what Christ would have us do.

So to be Christ like as a Christian is to be, we need to Love one another!

Who do you run too?

A friend sent this to me and I wanted to share this with you:

"I Run to Christ"

I run to Christ when chased by fear
And find a refuge sure.
"Believe in me," His voice I hear;
His words are wounds secure.

I run to Christ when torn by grief,
And find abundant peace.
"I too had tears," He gently speaks
Thus joy and sorrow meet.

I run to Christ when worn by life,
And find my soul refreshed.
"Come unto Me," He calls through strife;
Fatigue gives way to rest.

I run to Christ when vexed by Hell,
And find a mighty arm.
"The Devil flees," The scripture tells'
He roars, but cannot harm.

I run to Christ when stalked by sin
And find a sure escape.
"Deliver me," I cry to Him;
Temptations yields to grace.

I run to Christ when plagued by shame
And find my one defense.
"I bore God's wrath," He pleads my case -
My advocate and friend.

Family

This past wkend we left our home church to move up to Maine to work in a church and to help my Father in law with his farm. A very, very special lady whom I call Mom H, gave me this card. I'm going to share part of it  with you. Family is so very important!!!

A family is made up
of people who are
so close
you don't have
to think twice
about what
you're going to say
because
you know
you'll be
understood...

It's people you love
so much
and care about so much
that you'd do anything
for them
It's people
you think of first
when you have
something wonderful
to share,
and the ones you turn to when you just
can't turn to anyone else.

You're all these things to me
and that's why
I don't think of you
as being like family
because in my heart,
you really are!!

When God brings a special person into your life, there's always a reason :) That is why Mom H is FAMILY!!

God looks at family as very important! Man and Woman, mother and child, father and son.... I'm so thankful for blood related family as well as though I call family because they are special to me an always will be in my heart!!

Helping our Friends

Good afternoon :)

On my FB page this morning I had posted a few things from my devotional and a dear friend replied that it was what she needed. I wonder how many times do we help our friends through a note, a phone call, a status on FB or a kind gesture....

So many people today are hurting not only in the world but within our Christian circles....

Ecclesiastes 4:9 & 10
Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour.
For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.

Friends are so important. WE can be an encouragement to others and should be. Who could you help today?

Just a thought for you today :)

Sunshine

Early Morning sunrise, sunshining through the fog.....

As we go through life we have days that are "foggy" for us. We don't know which end is up..... I have had several days like this, but the sun will shine :) This song is one of many that's my favorite.....

There is sunshine in my soul today,
  More glorious and bright
Than glows in any earthly sky,
  For Jesus is my light.

    O there's sunshine, blessed sunshine,
    While the peaceful, happy moments roll;
    When Jesus shows His smiling face
      There is sunshine in my soul.

There is music in my soul today,
  A carol to my King;
And Jesus, listening, can hear
  The song I cannot sing.

I hope you have a GREAT day!

5 Somethings

Good morning from the the foggy, misty town of Windsor, Maine. Yep it's been foggy for a few days and last night there was a beautiful lighting show around 1 in the morning. It woke me up and I just lay there watching it from my bedroom window. Then this morning you guessed it, rain (misty) and foggy :) I love it though because the temps are in the 60's and not 90's LOL

I was going through my devotions this morning and I've been using this one little book titled "Salt in my Kitchen" My own reading happen to fall on one of the same passages that is the book so I read the little story and go to thinking about it..... 5 Somethings....

What are these 5 somethings Well first I'd like to read the passage John 5:19-24
Verse 24 will be our focus point "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation: but is passed from death unto life."

So in this passage we see 5 somethings that we can have
He that heareth -
1. Something - hear
and believeth -
2. Something - believe
hath everlasting life -
3. Something - life
shall not come into condemnation -
4. Something - can avoid condemnation
passed from death unto life -
5. Something - joy of eternal life

In all the times I've read this passage I hadn't noticed these 5 Somethings. We can hear, believe in Jesus, be given life, avoid hell and have joy, in that we have eternal life. That was so exciting to me as I read it that I just wanted to share these 5 Somethings with you.

I hope you have a great and wonderful day...
I know I plan too even though it's foggy and misty rain :)

Nail it to the Cross

Is there something in your heart between you and the Lord? Are you drifting apart? Not as close anymore? There is nothing you can do that He will not forgive, bring it to the cross, let it die so you can live!

Nail it to the cross, get it under the blood! Drown your pain and every stain in the mercy flood, Nail it to the cross, find hope and forgiveness. Kneel at the tree and walk away free, Na...
il it to the cross!

Is there a burden you bear that's got you battered and bound? Struggling for strength, Do you long to lay it down? Don't take another step, just kneel where you stand. Lay it at the cross and take the hammer in your hand

Nail it to the cross, get it under the blood! Drown your pain and every stain in the mercy flood, Nail it to the cross, find hope and forgiveness. Kneel at the tree and walk away free, Nail it to the cross!

Trust in the Lord

Proverbs 3 5-6
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart: and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

The Bible and Prayer has always been a major part of my life since I got saved. But in the last 4 days, putting my trust in the Lord that he will carry me and my church family through has been rough. It's been hard not to say Why? Or to become angry.

But as I talked with my husband and as we discussed our future, trusting in the Lord with all my heart is going to have to become a major part of my life. You may say but didn't you trust in him before. Yes, but not like I need to now. We as a family need to completely TRUST in him as we make these decisions.

In all thy ways.... Whose way? Well, it will be God's! Will we like the answer maybe, maybe not. Will it be hard to acknowledge him when he shows His way.... prayerfully No, but unless we (you) put your trust in the Lord you'll never know.

Friend, if you are from my church reading this, or if you are just someone who follows my blog...
Why not allow Proverbs 3:5-6 become your life verse or at least an important verse that you go to regularly.

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding
In all they ways acknowledge him and he shall direct thy path!!! If know song to these verses make it the song for the day, wk, month maybe yr.

A New school yr

Well, we're about ready to start another school yr. Are you ready for this yr not only with the books and the preparation but with God being the in the center of all you teach?

Study to shew thyself approved unto God a workman that needeth not to be ashamed.

One of my goals this yr is for the boys to become more in love with the Bible. Yes we'll have our History, Science, Math, English but the Bible is going to be more a focal point more than ever before this yr.

I pray as you begin your new school yr that you will keep Christ the center of your classroom.

Salt in the Kitchen

Colossians 4:2-6
Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;
Withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds;
That I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak.
Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.
Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.

Have you ever forgotten to put salt into something? I know have... I was in the 9th grade at TN Temple High School in Chattanooga. We had a homework assignment to do and mine was to make cinnamon roles. Oh they smelled so good as they were cooking, I took them out of the oven the looked just as good they smelled. Part of the assignment was my parents were to eat one and tell me what they thought. Well, we all took one bit into it.... YUCK!!! It was awful!!! I had left out the salt!!!! The bad part was I couldn't remake them for my grade from my home ec teach.... so I learned a lesson there that one MUST make sure all the ingredients are in before cont. All this to say what we say is "seasoned with salt".

I was reading a little book I got from my sister in law titled "Salt in my Kitchen"  and it made me think of the story I just told you. There are many ways salt is used.
1. It seasons our food. Just like those cinnamon roles I made it I had of remembered the salt they would of tasted great! In the Bible Christians are referred to as the salt of the earth. Think about it if we never used adjectives, adverbs  all the different parts of speech when we spoke. It would be boring!!

2. Salt will cleanses. II Kings 2:20-22
3. Salt can melt things. If you live in an area where you get snow storms or ice storms salt is used to clear the sidewalks and some places use it on the roads. The salt of our talk can melt the cold hearted. Mark 9:50B

A few thoughts....

II Thessalonians 5:16 to 24

16. Rejoice evermore
17. Pray without ceasing.
18. In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
19. Quench not the Spirit.
20. Despise not prophesyings.
21. Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
22. Abstain from all appearance of evil.
23. And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Pray without ceasing... Does this mean we are to ALWAYS be praying? Yes and no. You can pray throughout your day for various people, situations, needs etc. Ceasing doesn't mean you have to be on your knees in prayer 24/7. I have certain things that when I see them or hear something I will say a prayer for someone. Or maybe as I go through my day something will happen that will remind me of a situation that I should pray for. Do I do this all the time? I'm not perfect and I don't always do this but I do my best to pray without ceasing.

Are you quenching the Spirit? Make sure your reading the Bible, praying, attending church, have the right kind of fellowship, listening to the right kind of music etc. You don't want to quench the spirit.

These verses maybe short but each one has a lot to say. The one I want to focus on is one we talked about as a family back a few wks ago.  Vr 22 - Abstain from all appearance of evil. We need to be so careful what we say, do, go or anything we do in life. One way of doing that is abstaining from evil. If you have a question on what your about to do or someplace you have thought of going to, it's best you don't do those things.

We don't go into bars, one is we don't drink and although when out soul winning those in the bars need to hear the gospel. We don't go in because someone whom you've been trying to win Christ may see you go in. They don't know that you aren't drinking when you go in. Then they go and tell someone that you went into the bar. You know what that leads to. So we avoid ALL appearance of evil.
Another thing which I've seriously considered doing on FB. Several friends of mine ladies don't have other men on their pg as friends. Why? They want to avoid all appearance of evil. This keeps you from ending up in an odd situation. Even though your husband may read everything that is posted it doesn't stop you from deleting a conversation, or someone looking to hurt you starting rumors. So avoid ALL appearances of evil!
There are so many area's that could be touched on for avoiding the appearance of evil. You need to decided as an individual what you need to change, or what you need to avoid that you were considering.

Responsible, Action, Potential.....

This is from a sermon I heard the other night but I wanted to share it with you. Some is exact words of the preacher, where some of it will be my thoughts.

Phil 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ which stengtheneth me.
Bro Domelle took this verse and broke it down on How it applies to our lives. So many people know this verse and they quote it often, but do they KNOW how to apply it.

I - is Responsible Are you responsible?
can - action (what action are you doing as a responsible person or irresponsible)
do - Potential (what is your potential are you living up to your potential)
through Christ - are you doing all in Him?
which strengtheneth me - He is our strength.

This sermon I heard on Monday night at an Old Paths Conference and it couldn't of come at a better time. Just on Sunday I was really strugling with our situation, after lots of tears and being up most of the night God knew what I needed. Yes, I had through out the day said this verse, but now it means so much more to me.

I'm responsible for my actions and I need to reach my potential and one way to do this is through Christ! So no matter where I am, I CAN do all things through Christ which stengtheneth me!! It doesn't matter if I'm in Maine, or Maryland, or West Virginia ( where I really want to be).
I just need to make sure I'm Responsible, Have right actions, reach my Potential and as long as it's through Christ he'll give the strength I need.

WE all need the strength of God to get through ALL things!! I'm so thankful I serve a God that cares, that loved us so much that he gave us the Bible to study, learn and live by!!!

Gods word is all it took,
He spoke peace be still
And it happened.
He spoke the world into being
And that was all it took.

God created you and me
He knows each of our valleys and Mountain tops
He has a perfect will for you and me
God created you and me!

The ocean blue and oh so deep
The ocean blue and oh so wide
God knows exactly what he wanted
And created the ocean blue.

When you look at the around you
Remember who spoke it all into being
Gods word is all it took

This Little light of mine....

This little light of mine, I"m gonna let it shine....

This is a fun kids song but it has so much truth to it. Our family took their "light" into area's of Maine today so that others could hear hear the gospel. In being a light for Jesus we are also a mirror, if you please.

Our lives reflect either Christ or the world.
Which do you reflect?
I'm not a good poet but here's some words I wrote on paper last night.

What does the mirror of your life show?
Does it show you are growing in Christ?
Does it show you are pulling away?
What does the mirror of your life show?

Are you growing in Christ
So that others will want what you have?
Or are you following the world,
Making others question the Christian life?

Our light shines for Christ and reflects from the mirror or our life,
When you tell others of Christ you are showing the reflection of Christ
So my friend what does your mirror reflect to the world?

The Bible teaches we are to be witness of him both in Jerusalem, Samaria and all Judea, and unto the utter most parts of the world. As I've heard my preacher say, Jerusalem is your town, Samaria is your state, Judea is the US and of course the utter most parts is the world.

So what are you doing to be a reflection of Christ?
This little light of mine I'm gonna let it shine
Shine all over _________ (the city you live in) I'm gonna let it shine, let it shine, let it shine!

Are you Inconvienced?

Last wk we attended a church up here in Maine, and the Pastor spoke on, "Inconvenienced". It was really a great message because at this time, Yea, I feel inconvenienced. I know some of you would say what? you inconvenienced? Yep, me!
See, I'm currently in Maine as I mentioned and I in some ways don't want to be here.... Why? Well, my children are missing out on so much at home, but for whatever reason the Lord has put us here in Maine for a season. So to me, in ways, I'm "inconvenienced".

The Bible tells us though that that there is a time/season for everything
Ecclesiastes 3:1 and 4a
1  To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
4  A time to weep, and a time to laugh;

I've taken our "inconvenience" and decided ok: I can sit around and cry about it the whole time we're here or I can take this "inconvenience" and apply it to good (laughing) Have a good time, enjoy the beauty of Maine, enjoy my sister in laws (after all they're the only sisters I have). Other than friends I feel close enough to, to call a sister.

So I've done just that, I've spent time with Martha, Emily and a little bit with Randi and I've decided that staying with my father in law can be a good thing.
1. we're being a help to him on his farm
2. He doesn't have to cook for himself (I've sort of been given rule/control of the kitchen) which is fun.
3. we are here for a reason, it may not be clear to me and I will admit I'm a little confused on things, but I'm going to accept it.

Rather than dwelling on your "inconvenience" why not find the good in life!
Do you have health issues? find the good in it.
Do you have family problems? find the good in those family members.
Do you have financial struggles? find the good, and thank the Lord for what you have and forget about what you don't have. (I want to insert here, this is a hard one for me! I have several things I "want" so I have to look at my vehicle and say Thank you Lord that I have transportation and not become jealous of those with nicer cars.) See, I'm no different from any of you who read this.

So many times we focus so much on our problem that we forget God has reason for this or that. God is in control and he does know what is best. Yes, he holds our future in HIS hands!!!

So, Put that inconvenience aside and Enjoy what God has given you!!

2. Praise him for his mighty acts; praise him according to his excellent greatness.
3. Praise him with the sound of the trumpet; praise him with the psaltery and harp.
4. Praise him with the timbrel and dance; praise him with stringed instruments and organs.
5. Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.
6. Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord.

What are some of the musical instruments used in the Bible
1. coronet Psalms 98:6

In today's world it's said you have to have gospel rock. Well, gospel and rock do NOT go together. Or it's said that contemporary gospel, again it does NOT go together!!!

Have a great day and make sure you Music is Christ honoring :)

Something to think on

~You are not what you think you are but rather what you think.

~ Thoughts produce actions; Actions produce Habits; Habits produce Life Style

If your thoughts are always negative you will become negative. It your thoughts are about sinful things you will become those things. If your thoughts are positive then you will become positive.

What are you thinking about?
Philippians 4:8
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report: if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Another day of digging in the Valley

But my God shall supply all my need according to his riches in glory, by Christ Jesus.

Well, our valley is turning into the mountain top! As we started today we were a little discouraged in that we hadn't found a house and the one place we excited about fell through. Then I get a call from my daddy.... He and my mom are doing somethings that are a HUGE blessing so just one more blessing while digging in the valley.

Then this afternoon, we are searching and looking for a place and Monday at 9 am we have an appointment to look at a townhouse just South of Martinsburg! Another blessing while digging in the valley.

I just want those who read this, that this digging in the valley is truly something you want to do when you are there. The mountain tops are awesome but when you have something to "do" while in the valley it makes the valley and mountain top even sweeter!

So..... "But my God shall supply ALL my NEED...."

Digging in the Valley part 2

I'm taking my topic of digging in the valley on today also....
I have many friends who are really going through it and I just want to encourage you to go dig in your valley...

To share another blessing from digging while in the valley.... We had an appointment with our Preacher and he was able to do some things that were huge for us!!

Just remember friends that God is only a prayer away and his line is NEVER busy.
So what will you find in your valley today?

Diging in the Valley

Our preacher, preached a sermon Sunday on digging in the valley. So today since in some ways we are in a valley, decided to dig to see what I could find... well, my kids ever since I can remember have wanted a pool and a trampoline. They now have both!! Then, while "digging in the valley, I have friends that love me and are praying for me; they haven't asked questions they are just praying and I kn...ow they are because today, I've been calm, and feel the peace that God has given me. A little bit a ago another thing I find while digging was 2 of my boys pointed out that the things stacked in our dining room is under 1/2 of what was in there when we moved in here almost 9 months ago. Which means my goal of eliminating, consolidating and cleaning out worked. So even though my preacher may not see this, the sermon Sunday has been a HUGE blessing in my valley!!!

Which brings me to the fact I thank God that he gives our Preacher wisdom in what to preach and when! If it wasn't for our Lord, our Preacher Bro Owens, my husband and praying friends today wouldn't be what it is.

Thank you!

Living by Faith

It seems in the last few wks, our family has had to live by faith A LOT. For those of you who read this regularly I have a HUGE prayer request.
Our family is having to move by the end of the wk, this is completely out of our control but we do need to move. In the process of this all we are need of a very large sum of money.
Please help us pray that all works out for the glory of God.
It's not always easy to say, what you want Lord but through the tears and trials of the past few wks we are trying our best to keep this thought.

Thank you each and everyone for your prayers.
I may not be on much after Fri till we can get settled wherever the Lord may put us.

Psalm 139

Good Morning! I pray all are doing well and that you have had a good wk thus far and will have a good rest of the wk.

Psalm 139 is one of my many favorite chapters...
1. O Lord, thou hast searched me, and known me,
2. Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.
3. Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.

These 3 verses I love!!! The Psalmist is asking God to search him and to know him. We should be doing the same thing. Even though the Lord already knows all, we should not want to try and hide ANYTHING from him. We should want him to know what we are doing while we sit at home, or sit at our computer. We should want to have that knowledge that God sees all! Let Him, the Holy Spirit, have control of your life.

4. Tor there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether.
5. Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me.

Laid thine hand upon me.... his protection he guiding hand is there to help us.

6. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.
7. Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?
8. If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou are there.

God is everywhere! we should want to be our best to live up to his standard and His will!!!

9. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;
10. Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.

As Christians we are held in the palm of the Lords hand and he'll NEVER let us go!! Awesome thought.

11. If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.
12. Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.
13. For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb.
14. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvellous are thy works: and that my soul knoweth right well.

Isn't it awesome to know we are fearfully and wonderfully made by the Almighty God we serve.

15. My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
16. Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.
17. How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!
18. If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.
19. Surely thou wilt slay the wicked, O God; depart from me therefore, ye bloody men.
20. For they speak against thee wickedly, and thine enemies take thy name in vain.

We should NOT be with those who curse and take the Lords name in vain. Did you know there are words out that really they are just letters from being the actually curse word, or phrase that is inappropriate. We recently went through this with our boys. One of my boys who wasn't meaning anything bad by it when something would happen he would say, "what the...." and that is all he would say. Well, think about it, "what the....." usually has Hell in there. Well we don't want him using hell in a way that is cursing. Is the word Hell wrong? No, it's a place and it's a place we need to warn people of. However when used as it could be assumed in the little phrase "what the...." it's wrong. So as is spoke of in verse 20 stay away from that which is wicked and do NOT take the Lords name in vain!

21. Do not I hate them, O Lord, that hate thee? and am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee?
22. I hate them with perfect hatred: I count them mine enemies.
23. Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:
24. And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

You know we should want the Lord to search us and know our every thought, our every doing, and want to lead by the Holy Spirit to be lead away from that which is wicked and wrong.

This passage of scripture my preacher asked me to read daily for a month. Why? He felt because of a situation I had recently come out of that I wasn't feeling worthy of myself or God. After reading this for 30 days it transformed my life! I'm so grateful my preacher had me do this. So friend, are you going through something? Is there a situation in your life your saying why? I'm not worth anything? Why not take the challenge and read this passage EVERY day for 30 days. If there's something I pray with you about, please write me and I WILL pray for you.

Prayer Journal

How many of you have a Prayer Journal or maybe a Prayer Notebook?
I want to share with you my Prayer Journal and how it's set up:

Confession Daniel 9:4-6
Thanksgiving/Praise Ephesians 5:20
Family/Friends Psalm 127:1/Proverbs 17;17
Church Family James 5:16
Preachers II Thessalonians 1:11
Missionaries II Corinthians 1:11
Salvation I Timothy 2:3-4
America our Government Romans 13:1-7
Personal Needs Matthew 21:22

This is just a basic thing I follow then I also have it broken down into days. To try and cover all of this at one time would not be impossible, but with a family an all you break it up to where you can have the amount of time you believe you should pray.

Just for example: the first 2 are every day since there are 7 other area's they will follow accordingly or as I feel led by the Holy Spirit to pray.

Because in today's world Prayer is so very important I wanted to share this with you. Do I stick to it daily no there are days I may not use my journal, but this helps keep me on tract with prayer.

Have a great wkend everyone!

Trust in the Lord

I know since January I've talked about Faith, trust and depending alot. However I reason to, for those who are new on Jan 3 my husband lost his job this is now May 3 and he JUST today got a temporary job that will help.

You say, how in the world did you make it for that long with no job. Well, we trusted in the Lord, we had faith that God would take care of us and we simply depended on the Lord.

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding in all they ways acknowledge Him and he shall direct thy path. Proverbs 3: 5 & 6

See, on Jan 3 when my husband came home in the middle of the day, I knew in my heart he had lost his job. That evening, Wed to be exact, on way out to church we receive a call. A man in our church who knew absolutely NOTHING about what happened that day, had a deer for us!!! AMEN

Then we had food from a family who doesn't know us from Adams house cat provide, more deer, home canned food, personal needs plus soooo much more!

Another member in our church gave us so much food I literally had troubles finding a place for it. This was all with in 2 wks of when my husband lost his job.

Basically since the 2nd wk of December I have bought only a few things grocery wise!! My normal grocery bill with 4 teen boys, a husband, and myself is around $200 a month. Since Jan 3 I've not spent more than $50 a wk an that was just for little things we ran out of or needed.

Then as I mentioned in a post with in the last wk, our church had a big day. We went all out, we didn't know how we would get gas to make the trips needed (we live 1/2 an hr from our church).  It's a 50 mile round trip, well when you have a gas hog for a vehicle you do what you can.
The results for us just going and not worrying about it were outstanding and worth giving God the glory.

So 4 mo later to the date since my dear husband lost his job, he has another job. Why? I believe that God saw we didn't stay home from church because we didn't know how we would get home. I believe that he saw that when it was time for bus ministry we went. When it was time for teen soul winning we had the boys there!

I could go on and on, but if you are struggling.... Trust in the Lord! He will take of you!!!

Keepers at Home

Titus 2: 4-5 "That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to lover their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home...."

Keepers - Being on guard, watching, caretaker
Home - Seat of domestic life

In today's world women work out of the home just about as much as the men work. Is this wrong, not necessarily but I believe that God intended for us as wives and mom to be the keeper of the home. After all he has the term "keepers at home" in the Bible.

Think about it, is your house really a home if your gone all day not making it nice and neat. Cleaning an taking care of that which makes your house a home. I worked out of the home for a total of 3 yrs of my 20 yrs of marriage. The first yr I worked out of the home we had no children, but I found that keeping my house clean and looking like a home for us hard to do. I did it, one we had no children so there was little to clean, 2nd it was nice to have the house clean when hubby came home.
The next yrs I worked we have 5 children and even though I worked part time I just couldn't keep up. You say but part time why not? Well if you are from a large family there's at least 3 loads of laundry a day, constantly doing dishes, cooking ALOT so much to do. Maybe you can do it, if you can wonderful. We felt though that our house looking like a home was more important than have more money.

So are you a keeper at home? I'm not saying your wrong to work out of the home in today's world some times you have to. I feel for those who can't choose to work or not. I know that many families MUST have both mom and dad work. As a matter of fact it may come to that soon for us. BUT as long as I can be the wife and mom who stays home and takes care of my husband, children and house I will do that first!

So, as a wife and mom re think what you want to do.... all the money you can get or be the one that your husband and children need by being the keeper at home who takes care of the domestic things.

To learn more about this you could buy the book "Created to be His Help Meet" by Debi Pearl

2,012 in 2012

I was going to do a regular devo today, but I was thinking about what our Preacher had said on Sunday 4/22/2012 and how we need to share the blessings of God that took place at our church, Shenandoah Bible Baptist Church.

We had many goals that day for reaching 2,012 people in Sunday School. It took a lot of hard work and prayer.
Each bus route had a goal to bring so many to church on their routes:
Here a a few: my husband had wanted to double his attendance of 34; he had 75!!!
Paul IV, Rt 1 captained by Bro Gary Martin had 150
Caleb, Rt 9 captained by Jareb Moore had 101
Samuel's rt captained by Scott Garner had 23 (new route)
Then our Deaf Rt which is captained by Bro Ken Davis had 15

Our bus ministry goal for all the routes together was 1,000 and we had 1500!!

Then the Deaf SS class where my hubby and I work had a goal of 14 and we had 19!!!

The goal for all the SS classes together was 2,012 are you ready for the final count that was given Sunday Night after all attendances were in...... Our church had in attendance for Sunday School 2,664 People!!!

Now this is all exciting and wonderful but the most spectacular the most incredible news of all is that 421 precious souls accepted Christ at their Saviour that day!!!

God is so good and he blessed the prayers and hard work of our church by giving us above and beyond our goal!!!

Just something I wanted to share with you.

Reggie..... This will touch your heart!

They told me the big black Lab's name was Reggie, as I looked at him lying in his pen. The shelter was clean, no-kill, and the people really friendly. I'd only been in the area for six months, but everywhere I went in the small college town, people were welcoming and open. Everyone waves when you pass them on the street.

But something was still missing as I attempted to settle in to my new life here, and I thought a dog couldn't hurt. Give me someone to talk to. And I had just seen Reggie's advertisement on the local news. The shelter said they had received numerous calls right after, but they said the people who had come down to see him just didn't look like "Lab people," whatever that meant. They must've thought I did.

But at first, I thought the shelter had misjudged me in giving me Reggie and his things, which consisted of a dog pad, bag of toys almost all of which were brand new tennis balls, his dishes and a sealed letter from his previous owner.

See, Reggie and I didn't really hit it off when we got home. We struggled for two weeks (which is how long the shelter told me to give him to adjust to his new home). Maybe it was the fact that I was trying to adjust, too.
 Maybe we were too much alike.

I saw the sealed envelope. I had completely forgotten about that. "Okay, Reggie," I said out loud, "let's see if your previous owner has any advice."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To Whomever Gets My Dog:
Well, I can't say that I'm happy you're reading this, a letter I told the shelter could only be opened by Reggie's new owner. I'm not even happy writing it. He knew something was different.
So let me tell you about my Lab in the hopes that it will help you bond with him and he with you.
First, he loves tennis balls. The more the merrier. Sometimes I think he's part squirrel, the way he hoards them. He usually always has two in his
mouth, and he tries to get a third in there. Hasn't done it yet. Doesn't
 matter where you throw them, he'll bound after them, so be careful. Don't do it by any roads.
Next, commands. Reggie knows the obvious ones ---"sit," "stay," "come," "heel."
He knows hand signals, too: He knows "ball" and "food" and "bone" and "treat" like nobody's business.
Feeding schedule: twice a day, regular store-bought stuff; the shelter has the brand.
He's up on his shots. Be forewarned: Reggie hates the vet. Good luck getting him in the car. I don't know how he knows when it's time to go to the vet, but he knows.
Finally, give him some time. It's only been Reggie and me for his whole life. He's gone everywhere with me, so please include him on your daily car rides if you can. He sits well in the backseat, and he doesn't bark or complain. He just loves to be around people, and me most especially.
And that's why I need to share one more bit of info with you...His name's not Reggie. He's a smart dog, he'll get used to it and will respond to it, of that I have no doubt. But I just couldn't bear to give them his real name. But if someone is reading this ... well it means that his new owner should know his real name. His real name is "Tank." Because, that is what I drive.
I told the shelter that they couldn't make "Reggie" available for adoption until they received word from my company commander. You see, my parents are gone, I have no siblings, no one I could've left Tank with .. and it was my only real request of the Army upon my deployment to Iraq, that they make one phone call to the shelter ... in the "event" ... to tell them that Tank could be put up for adoption. Luckily, my CO is a dog-guy, too, and he knew where my platoon was headed. He said he'd do it personally. And if you're reading this, then he made good on his word.
Tank has been my family for the last six years, almost as long as the Army has been my family. And now I hope and pray that you make him part of your family, too, and that he will adjust and come to love you the same way he
 loved me.
If I have to give up Tank to keep those terrible people from coming to the US I am glad to have done so. He is my example of service and of love. I hope I honored him by my service to my country and comrades.
All right, that's enough. I deploy this evening and have to drop this letter off at the shelter. Maybe I'll peek in on him and see if he finally got that third tennis ball in his mouth.
Good luck with Tank. Give him a good home, and give him an extra kiss goodnight - every night - from me.
Thank you,
Paul Mallory
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I folded the letter and slipped it back in the envelope. Sure, I had heard of Paul Mallory, everyone in town knew him, even new people like me. Local kid, killed in Iraq a few months ago and posthumously earning the Silver
 Star when he gave his life to save three buddies. Flags had been at half-mast all summer.

I leaned forward in my chair and rested my elbows on my knees, staring at the dog.

"Hey, Tank," I said quietly.

The dog's head whipped up, his ears cocked and his eyes bright.

"C'mere boy."

He was instantly on his feet, his nails clicking on the hardwood floor. He sat in front of me, his head tilted, searching for the name he hadn't heard in months. "Tank," I whispered.

His tail swished.

I kept whispering his name, over and over, and each time, his ears lowered, his eyes softened, and his posture relaxed as a wave of contentment just seemed to flood him. I stroked his ears, rubbed his shoulders, buried my
 face into his scruff and hugged him.

"It's me now, Tank, just you and me. Your old pal gave you to me." Tank reached up and licked my cheek.

"So whatdaya say we play some ball?" His ears perked again.

"Yeah? Ball? You like that? Ball?"

Tank tore from my hands and disappeared into the next room. And when he came back, he had three tennis balls in his mouth.

How do you present yourself?

Good Morning!
I hope that as you go about your daily duties that you remember that one thing is present yourself as Christ would!

Romans 12:1 & 2
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

These verses have always been some of my favorite, and you may say, Paula, you say that about a lot of verses. Well, I'll be honest with you, The Bible is my favorite book. So I have a lot of favorite verses :) So my question to you is How do you present yourself when you are at work? school? play? out with friends? or whatever you do.

You are to be Christ like and in order to do that we have to:
1. Not conform to the world ~ what does this mean? It's simply that you don't let the world pull you into it's web of sin.
2. Be transformed ~ Be Christ like not world like
3. renew your mind ~ constantly be feeding yourself on God's word and on things that are of God, such as Godly music, not the so called Christian Rock..... stop and think about it does rock-n-roll and Christian really go together? You can't combine a good and bad together and expect it to be good.
4. prove what is good ~ Prove to the world that the Christian life if good.
5. prove what is acceptable ~ Let your friends know what is acceptable to you. Don't say, "whatever" NO stand up for what you stand for.
6. Perfect will of God ~ don't you think that presenting yourself as Christ is the will of God. He wants and knows what is the Perfect will of God for your life. Let him show you.

So as a Christian, yes I, we, fail. BUT we can get back up and we can do what we can to live in a way that we present our bodies a living sacrifice holy acceptable unto God.

You ask how can I show I'm Christlike?
1. your language
2. your appearance
3. your dress
4. your attitude
5. the way you treat people
These are just a few of many, many ways you can present yourself.

Do you have Heartache's?

I Peter 5: 1-7 Looking at verse 7 "Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you."
What burdens and heartaches do you have today?
Are you feeling as though no one cares that everyone and everything is against you?
Friend there is no need to feel that way! God is always there no matter what your situation. My former Preacher as well as my current Preacher told/tells people when you feel down, GO do something for another! You know what that really helps!!

The song No One Ever Cared for Me Like Jesus comes to mind....
Vr 1 I would love to tell you what I think of Jesus Since I found in Him a friend so strong and true;
I would tell you how He changed my life completely,
He did something that no other friend could do.

Chorus: No one ever cared for me like Jesus,
There's no other friend so kind as He;
No one else could take the sin and darkness from me,
O how much he cares for me.

Friend if you haven't accepted Christ you will feel that no one cares.
If you are backslidden an out of God's will, you will feel that no one cares.
If you are not in your Bible and praying as you should, you will feel that no one cares.

Why not turn today make that change! I know my Jesus cares and I know he hold tomorrow.

I Peter 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
Are you financial trouble? Cast it on Jesus
Are you at the end of your rope? Cast it on Jesus
Whatever your situation, friend Please don't cont one more day feeling no one cares! Turn your life around, turn your eyes upon the ONE the ONLY who can and WILL help you. Your heavenly Father.

The End times

Good afternoon, I know many of us don't want to think of the end times. There is so much happening in the world today that we must stop and realize the Bible is being fulfilled. If you look at Revelation so many things are taking place and it's just a matter of time (we don't know when) that the Lord's going to say, bring my children home. Are you ready?

In II Timothy 3:1-5 we read:
This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
Without natural affection, truce-breakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
Have a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

Are you one of the things listed in these verses? Are you tired of fighting? Don't give up!! God will call his children home, but do beware of those who, are what is describe in these verses. They will pull down or you will pull another down.

Look to Eastern Sky, be a soul winner, be faithful in your service to God. Most importantly Know FOR SURE 100% that you ARE SAVED!!! Once you get saved, you are saved for EVER!!!

If you are not sure and you are reading this please cont to read:

The Bible Way to Heaven

1. Realize your Condition
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
No one is good enough to go to Heaven on his own merit. No matter how much good we do, we still fall short.

2. Realize the Penalty for Sin
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death....
Just as there are wages for good, there is punishment for wrong. The penalty for our sin is eternal separation from God in Hell

3. Believe Christ Died and Rose again for you.
Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Christ's great love for us was shown when he died on the cross and rose again from the dead to pay our sin debt.

4. Trust Christ Alone as your Saviour
Romans 6:23 ...but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the lord shall be saved.
Everlasting life is a gift purchased by the blood of Jesus and offered freely to those who call upon Him by faith.

Let us help you word a prayer. Realize it's not mere words that will save you, but your faith in Jesus Christ.

Dear Jesus,
I know that I am sinner. I know that because I am a sinner, I deserve Hell. I now trust You, and what You did for me to take me to Heaven when I die. Thank you for saving me, Jesus. AMEN

If you read this accept the eternal security of knowing you have a home in Heaven. Would you please e-mail me at: our7isheaven@yahoo.com I would love to rejoice with you in knowing that you accepted Jesus Christ as your Saviour.

Love

From Someone Cares Written by Helen Steiner Rice

The Greatest need
in the world today is love...
More love for each other
and more love for God above!

Great is the Power
of Might and Mind
but only Love
Can Make us Kind...
And Only Love can completely fill
The hearts of Men
with Peace and Goodwill!

John 3:16 For God so Loved the World that he gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Be a Missionary

Be a Missionary every day, tell the world that Jesus is way
Be in it in the town or country or the busy avenue
_________ or ________ the task is up to you (I left the places blank because ANY place could be put in)
So Be a Missionary, God an Emissary, Be a Missionary today!!

Acts 1:8
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Did you know your town (Hagerstown for me) is my Jerusalem? I need to be a Missionary telling others of Christ in my Jerusalem.
Then Judea is the state or part of the US where I live such as Northeast states.
Next I'm to be a Missionary to the US by supporting the starting of other churches within our Great country. I can't go and maybe you can't but we can support them through our church.
As we all know not every one can go to the uttermost parts of the earth. However someone who knows the Lord wants him in Africa, China, Australia, Iraq or where ever we support them not only financially but through prayer support!

So are you a Missionary? YES!!! We are all Missionaries NO matter where we live.

What do you battle in your thoughts?

I realize tomorrow is Easter and some of you may have been looking for a post on Easter. I believe though that I need to share this. Someone, somewhere is struggling and they may need this just to make it through tonight, or tomorrow maybe even the wk.

Ephesians 6:12
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

I was reading through some things I shared with a friend who asked me to help her/him with something. Now I'm no scholar on many, most topics, but the Bible and yes other people are well educated in area's. I can tell you, you can NOT allow Satan to overcome your thought life.

If I can say one thing DO NOT ALLOW SATAN TO TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR THOUGHTS!!!
We are human, we have worldly thoughts, but we need to focus on the right things.
Are you hurting?
Are you going through something?
Do you feel all is against you and you allow the Devil to enter into your thoughts?

The Bible clearly states: For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

BUT we can over come that. Think on these things: things that are lovely, of good report, pure, clean....

Dear friend,
I don't know what your thought life is like but if you don't stay in the Bible, pray, stay as close to the Lord as you can. You will have problems. So if you are problems with this please go to www.youversion.com sign  up if you don't have an account then go The Battlefield of your Mind... I may not have the title exact but you will know when you find it.

As I close out today, I pray that as tomorrow is Easter Sunday or as we call it Resurrection Sunday that you will take a moment to think about Jesus and all he DID on Calvary for you!

So what do you wrestle against in your thought life?

What do people see?

Ruth 2: 7-8, 15-18
7. And she said, I pray you let me glean and gather after the reapers among the sheaves: so she cam, and hath continued even from the morning until now, that she tarried a little in the house.

8. Then said Boaz unto Ruth, Hearest thou not, my daughter? Go not to glean in another field, neither go from hence, but abide here fast by my maidens:

15-18 And when she was risen up to glean, Boaz commanded his young men, saying, Let her glean even among the sheaves, and reproach her not.
And let fall also some of the handfuls of purpose for her, and leave them, that she may glean them, and rebuke her not.
So she gleaned in the field until even, and beat out that she had gleaned: and it was about an ephah of barley.
And she took it up, and went into the city: and her mother in law saw what she had gleaned: and she brought forth, and gave to her that she had reserved after she was sufficed.

I love the story of Ruth, it is so.... Oh encouraging especially in today's world where things are rough, an money is not much, food cost have gone up, gas and milk cost the same.... There is so much we can learn from the story of Ruth.

As you know, God will provide for you. As we read through Ruth we see at first she only got the remnants of the field. Later it changed. Why do you think this happened?
You may not think so but People watch you. They see how you respond to various things, they see how you respond to life.
Ruth, I see as a lady who read her Bible daily and that prayed daily. When people see you do they see through your life that you Pray and read your Bible daily?
Ruth was a very persistent lady, are you?

Ruth shared what she received. Do you do this or do you go to church and glean from the preaching but NEVER share....
Do you receive daily food but yet you don't feed those in need?

Boaz saw how Ruth was she shared what she gleaned and then he gave her more! People do notice what you say, what you do, how you respond etc.

Oh be careful little hands what you do
For the Father up above is looking in love (or we could say: For the people here on earth are watching you to see.)

Oh be careful little mouth what you say
For there are little ears that are listening to your every word....

I know this isn't the actual song but you get the point. When you think your alone, Your NOT!!!
So are you a Ruth?

Psalm 127
Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.
It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.
Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man: so are children of the youth.
Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.

Verse 1.... We always here children are from God but have you ever read the verses before and after that verse. The Lord is "build" your home. Do you have the Lord as the center of your home? Your relationship? Is the Lord in the center of how you discipline your children? Or is all you do in Vain??

Verse 2.... Do you sit and dwell on your sorrows? The Bible tells us it's vain to do so. We are to rise up early and work for our Lord and do as he would have you do. He, the Lord, has given us a time to sleep not to sit up late and do things that aren't meant to be done.
Do you sit up into the wee hours of the morning surfing the web? Going to sites you shouldn't go to.... Maybe you are sitting up to watch something on TV that if you wouldn't allow your children to watch you shouldn't watch.

Verse 3.... Our children are on lone to us. What are we to do raise them, teach them to do what the Lord would have them to do.

Verse 4.... Are we as parents throwing arrows of poison to our children or are we protecting them. Keeping them from that which will hurt them. Now I realize that we can't protect them from everything, but we can teach them the difference of right and wrong.

Verse 5.... How many precious little ones has God given you? Take care of them, teach them, protect them, train them. You do this and Lord willing they will follow in the way of the Lord.

Call unto me....

Jeremiah 33:3 "Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not."

I don't know about you but I love it when the Lord answers my prayers! This is a promise of God that is so true. Over the past 3 months we've had more prayers answered than I could begin to list. God has been so very good to me and my family!

We are waiting on a major prayer request to be answered and we know it's all in God's timing. This is where I am going to ask that you help us pray for this matter. My dear husband lost his job January 3 of this yr and has yet to find another, that will meet our needs. Would you join my family and me in praying that we'll find a job soon. "Where 2 or 3 are gathered together his name...." We may not be gathered in one room but we as Christians are gathered together.

Now to share some already answered prayers: We've not gone a day without food for our family. The gas tanks on our vehicles have never left us stranded. Our bills are pd except for this mo but I know the Lord will provide. That's just to list a few!

So what are you needing answered and have given up on or have just started praying for? Please whatever you do DO NOT give up on your prayers. God is true and his Word is true.

Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

Teens

"Parents do not have to become enemies to their teenagers. They can understand them and build a relationship that is close, sweet, gracious, and kind and still have the needed firmness. Parents do not have to choose between chaos and no rules and being nice. They can enforce rules and still be courteous and gracious. There is no need for parents to live brokenhearted; they can build a relationship with their teens. The closest relationship with Mom and Dad. That close relationship is God's plan."
Dr Jack Hyles

What is a teenager?
A. He's not a child.
B. He's not an adult.
C. However a teenager is closer to an adult than a child.

1. Adults should treat a teenager more like an adult than child.
Here's poem written by a 17 yr old boy:
"So live, that when thy summons comes to join
The innumerable caravan which moves
To that mysterious realm, where each shall take
His chamber in the silent halls of death,
Thou go not, like the quarry-slave at night,
Scourged to his dungeon, but, sustained and soothed
By an unfaltering trust, approach thy grave
Like one who wraps  the drapery of his couch
About him, and lies down to pleasant dreams.

Wow!! Who would of thought a teen could write such a poem.
Your teen should feel as though you treat him as an Adult! Parents careful you don't destroy the communication with your teens by treating him like a child.

2. Parents must accept the fact that teenagers are gone more often than not.

Trust me on this as a mom of a 19, 18, 17 and 14 yr old they are gone ALOT!!! Now my 19 yr old is away at college so I see VERY little of her! My 18 yr old is a in school and has a job, I literally see him from 6 am to 7 am Tues thru Fri, and 6 pm till 10 when he goes to bed. The wkends I don't see him on Sat till after 5 in the evening and Sunday it's a passing ordeal that I see him. Now I'm NOT complaining. Why? you ask, because my children are involved in various ministries at our church and I LOVE the fact they are busy serving God and not getting in trouble.

I hope this will encourage someone.... It did encourage me!

Is God getting the glory in what you do?

I Corinthians 10: 31
Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

Have you thought about that even in your eating and drinking you are to do all to the glory of God? When our children play, their talk, their play, their actions are to bring glory to God. When we are on the Internet, which is a big part of our world today, we are to bring glory to God. When you are on the phone with friends and family, you are to bring glory to God. When you are out shopping, the way shop, should bring glory to God. I could go on and on but I think if you are reading this that you have figured it out ALL we do is to bring glory to God.

We pray before we eat, which is honoring to God. Shouldn't we also pray before going shopping, or taking a drive? This would honor God!!

This verse really is self explanatory so I'll not linger on it. Just whatever you plan on doing, saying, or whatever, make sure it will bring glory to God. If there is doubt maybe you shouldn't do it.

I know where I'm going!

I know where I'm going
And who I'm gonna see
I have a friend named Jesus
Waiting there for me
He has given something, that only he can give
...
He gave His life in payment, so that I could live

One day I was wandering what's it all about
Life is full of heartbreak,
Restlessness and doubt
Then the voice from heaven
whispered words of Love
Pointed to me Heaven wrote my name above

I know where I'm going and who I'm gonna see
I have a friend name Jesus waiting there for me
He has given something that only He could give
He gave His life in payment so that I could live.

So, friend if you are searching for a better way
I'm recommending Jesus
trust in Him today.
He will give life meaning like none other can
come and travel with me to the Promise land.

I know where I'm going and who I'm gonna see
I have a friend name Jesus waiting there for me
He has given something that only he could give
He gave His life in payment so that I could live.

Will you flee or go?

Jonah 1:1-4
Now the word of the Lord came unto Jonah the son of Amittai, saying,
Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before me.
But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the presence of the Lord, and went down to Joppa; and he found a ship going to Tarshish: so he paid the fare thereof, and went down into it,  to go with them unto Tarshish from the presence of the Lord.
But the Lord sent out a great wind into the sea, and there was a mighty tempest in the sea, so that the ship was like to be broken.

Are you a Jonah? When the Lord leads you to go and do something do you flee? Or do you do the opposite of Jonah and go immediately. Now Jonah did go into Nineveh but not till after he had fled.
Can we hide form the Lord? NO!

Have you been called to teach a girls Sunday School class, or teach in a Christian school? Men have you been called to preach, either at a church, as a missionary or an evangelist? These are just to mention a few things we can do. Now you can serve God in area that you work. If you are a soul winner and do your best to be a witness for Christ God CAN and Will use you!

How many times does the Lord have to come to you before you'll do his work or before he'll simply leave you alone because you neglect to listen to the Holy Spirit. Now because Jonah ran, it caused much grief for more than himself. Imagine that poor fish.... he had to deal with a man in his stomach that wouldn't digest. You know how you feel when your stomach is upset and it seems the food isn't settling. We do the same with Jesus when we ignore his call, we "upset' his stomach, so to speak. We then go to Chapter 3.

Chapter 3:1-2 it says, "And the word of the Lord came unto Jonah the second time, saying,
Arise, go unto Nineveh, that great city, and preach unto it the preaching that I bed thee."

What did Jonah do this time since he was being given a 2nd chance. He went and preached the gospel and because he obeyed God the people of Nineveh believed God. This brings me to our Teens at SBBC of Shenandoah Bible Baptist Church. Our teens have seen over 200 people saved in the past 2 wks. Now if our Pastor had of ignored the Lord and hadn't started a teen a soul winning group having 2 of his assistant Pastors over the group do you think these 200 plus people would be saved today? There is a possibility but was is the likely hood that they would.... When you have 50 plus teens going out and sharing the gospel somethings going to happen!!!

So lets not flee from God and what he ask of us.
My question to you is, "Who are you the Jonah who fled or the Jonah who went and obeyed God?
