Till the Storm Passes.....

Till the Storm passes by

In the dark of the midnight have I oft hid my face, while the storm howls above me, and there's no hiding place, 'Mid the crash of the thunder, Precious Lord, hear my cry, keep me safe till the storm passes by.

Till the storm passes over, till the thunder sounds no more, Till the clouds roll forever from the sky; Hold me fast, let me stand in the shadow of Thy hand, Keep me safe till the storm passes by.

I love storms, I love watching the lighting and hearing the thunder. But the storms of life aren't fun to watch. Are you in the midst of a storm? Just hold on and let God move. He has a reason for this storm. I don't know that I would say our situation right is a storm, but it's rough. We have to depend on God to get us through.

The Father has a plan, though it's hard to see it now. You feel you're walking all alone, but He is there no doubt. When the storm around you rages and you're tossed to and fro, when you're faced with life's decisions, not sure which way to go: Stand still and let God move. Standing still is hard to do. When you feel you have reached the end. He'll make a way for you. Stand still and let God move.

The Sun will shine again.... I remember the time when I first knew the Saviour, When the sunlight of blessing so flooded my heart. Oh the sweetness of the "first love" with Jesus so near me, And I thought such devotion would never depart, Let the sunshine again, Let the flow'rs bloom again, Stir the embers of love in my heart! Holy Spirit reprove, then embrace me again; Let the sun shine again in my heart!

So friend if you are in a storm remember the sun will shine again!!

God is so good, He's so good to me! Doesn't matter the trail or storm, we'll have the victory in the end :)

Step up Your Game....

Good Morning!

On this past Sunday night my husband preached a sermon, "We need to step up our game" He took in the direction of stepping up in your standards, stepping up in your service for the Lord, stepping up by, stepping away from sin and many other things.

I was thinking about as Parents, employee's, friends, really are area's of our lives. How can we "Step up our game"?

What are ways you could step your game? What program on tv do you watch that you KNOW is wrong but you "don't" have anything else to do that 1/2 that is on. What type of music do you listen to that you KNOW you could step up your game by switching to Good Fundamental Gospel Music. I'm not talking contemporary I'm talking Good Ole Fashion Gospel Music.

Here are a few things I'm going to share with you on how we can step up our game.....

1. Don't complain ~ In whatsoever state I am therewith to be content! What in your life are you Not content with? I will admit I have things in my life that I'm content with, I'm human but I'm working on them just as each of us should.

2. Be Soul winner ~ How often do you witness to someone? I'm talking visiting that's what you do when you want to see someone you've not seen in a long time. What I mean is: Go ye into the highways and byways. Share the word of God with others.

3. Talents ~ what talent do you have that you're not using or using as little as you can. I play the piano but for yrs I've used the excuse, I've not played or had lessons since College so I can't play. Now one of things I'm doing as a new Pastors wife is stepping up my game in playing the piano. Yes, I'm rusty and yes I won't be playing for Congregation's for awhile. But we have a wonderful piano player who's willing to help me "Re-learn" the piano! So what area can you step up in? Piano, singing, teaching a Sunday School class, so many things, that so many can do.

I pray as you go through your day today, that you'll find something you could step your game up in. Maybe cleaning house ~ we are to be keepers at home.
Maybe cleaning up your computer ~ getting rid of the bad and replacing it with good.
Maybe being a better listener with friends, your children, your Spouse~

Lets find an area and Work on it! Make it better! Step it up!

This blog was written by my son.....

My son Caleb Robert is 18 yrs old and he has a desire to serve the Lord. He has such high goals for himself and he knows that the Lord has something for him to do.... His dad, Pastor of SBC Palermo, ME, asked him to write a challenge for the teens of our church. I was very pleased with what he wrote and wanted to share his challenge on my blog:
(I think this can be applied to adults also, make a joyful noise.)

"Make a Joyful noise unto the Lord"
Read Psalm 100

As I read this chapter I was thinking how could this apply to teens. In chapter 100 it talks of singing.
A sign of happiness is singing, and it's the same for Godliness too. When one doesn't sing it could
mean that person isn't happy.
So teens the reason we sing isn't for applause, or our pleasure, but rather for God's pleasure. He tells us to make a Joyful noise to Him. Does it always sound good? No, but we are to sing even it doesn't sound good.

So lets all make a Joyful noise unto the Lord through singing!

Looking backwards or forward, Which are you doing?

Job 11:14-17 Verse 16 being the key vr.
"14 - If iniquity be in thine hand, put it far away, and let not wickedness dwell in thy tabernacles.
15 - For then shalt thou lift up thy face without spot; yea, thou shalt be stedfast, and shalt not fear:
16 - Because thou shalt forget thy misery, and remember it as waters that pass away:
17 - And thine age shall be clearer than the noonday; thou shalt shine forth, thou shalt be as the morning."

Each of us probably have things in our past that we would like to forget, but Satan keeps bringing it up in different situations. When things are going great and your serving God, ole smutty face throws something in your path that brings up past sins or issues. I can't recall who I heard say this, but then I've heard it from many people is, "Burn your Bridges behind you and don't look back.

What is it in your life that you need to burn the bridge to?
What person in your past hurt you, molested you, beat you (I'm speaking of a spanking from your parents) I mean physically abused you. What is that thing you did that caused heartache and pain to you, your friends, family... You know those things we need to do as Job did in verse 16, "Because thou shalt FORGET thy misery...." If you have accepted Christ as your Saviour there is NO need to hang onto that past sin or wrong. God has forgiven you and buried it the deepest sea, What sin are you talking about? is what he says!

When Jesus died on the cross he took my sin,  your sin, the WHOLE Worlds sin upon his shoulders and buried them in the deepest sea!!! WOW!!! When he see you and me he see us as "White as Snow" Let by gones be by gones, burn that bridge, stop dwelling on what could have been and focus on what is NOW!

Back in February, I realized that if the Lord was going to use my family here in Maine, I had to stop saying, "What if?" What if we had of stayed in West Virgina? What if this or that hadn't of happened? Well, friend what if it hadn't of happened, would you be where God wants you today? See back in February I told the Lord, that even though Maine wasn't my choice of places to live that if this was where we were to be, I'd adjust. That is exactly how I said it to. You ask why did you say adjust, well if you don't know me, I'm a city kid from NC! MUCH warmer there than in Maine. After all here it is March the 19th and we are having a snow storm... Now do you see why I said adjust?! :D LOL So yes, I had to say, Ok Lord I'll adjust if this is where you want us. Would you know that on March 10th, I got my answer that, Yes, we are where God wants us to serve. I'm so thankful that I said, ok Lord I'll do what you want.

So friend Have Faith that God will help you FORGET the what ifs and the sin in your past. He is able to do all things!

"I can do all things through Christ...." You can burn that bridge! You can cont on through life no matter what your past holds! You can conquer that thing in your life that haunts you!

"What sins are you talking about?" I've buried them in the deepest sea!

Gone Gone yes my sins are gone! Buried in the deepest sea, G-O-N-E Yes my sins are GONE!!

So are you looking to the future? or looking to the past?
Trust on the Lord with all thine heart, he can take care of ALL things!

Who's your Life Guard?

"I am the way the truth and the Life...."

Do you ever feel your just drowning in all that is happening? Do you feel no one can help or maybe that no one even cares? Well, friend let me tell you there is someone who knows your life, knows what is in your future and not only that HE CARES!

From Thursday night to even today, I, we the Seavey family, have had a few things come up. On Thursday I was just like, there's no way I can take one more thing! My husband and I were talking and I said to him, "we've had so much thrown at us since Jan of last yr, haven't we had enough?" Then he reminded me of ALL the good God had given us throughout the last yr. In my mind and heart I knew that we have much to be thankful for.

Our Lord walked on water, what do have to dread or fear. I had asked a few people to pray about situations they knew nothing of and I knew when they were or had prayed, not to be spooky or anything, but I felt the peace that ONLY God can give come over me.  Yes, our situation is still there and we still have things to work through, but God is a great God and he can do ANYTHING and that means he can take care of me, my husband, and my children.

"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart in all thy ways acknowledge Him and he shall direct thy paths"
So, it doesn't matter what we are going through, God will direct our paths if we only trust in him!! Prime example, we came to Maine not knowing what or even why really we were here. We now know why. God gave me husband a life long dream of his, and that was to Pastor in his home state, Maine! We trusted in God allowed him to direct our Paths and now we are in His WILL for our lives.

Rather than saying, NO MORE! Say, God can and will give me the strength I need to make it today!

"This is the day that the Lord hath made I will rejoice in it and be glad"

You can rejoice in the day God gave you, and let him take the trials, disappointments, struggles, heartaches, hardships, or whatever it maybe, Just hand them to God, he will carry the load for you. While at the same time giving you the confidence you need for today!

If today, you are feeling as though you're going to drown, look to Jesus, after all, He walked on water!!

"Rejoice in the Lord alway, and again I say rejoice"

I Love you

John 15:11-13 "These things have I spoken unto you, and that your joy might be full.
This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. "

I LOVE YOU! Do you say that people, your family, your friends, your church family?
Those 3 words can be thrown around like a wet rag sometimes. I have had people actually say to me, you say you love me, but do you really?! Now that is something to think about. However as I have told those people, I don't use those words unless I mean it!

When I was a young teen, I was writing a letter and as I closed it my dad was walking past as I was writing Love you, and the signing my name to it. Dad asked me, "Are you just saying those words or do you mean it?" Dad then explained to me that Love can be said and meant in different ways, but such as at the end of the letter it should mean exactly as you say I Love You. I didn't really understand completely why it mattered but as I got older it began to make sense.

I have several dear friends whom I've told, "I love you" and I let them know right off that when I told someone I loved them, I sincerely meant it! One person didn't seem to believe me but now as time has gone by I believe the person now believes me. Same when I tell someone their my friend I mean it.

See the Bible tells us to "love one another".
As a new Pastors wife, I want my ladies to know I love them. Not just because I'm the Pastors wife, but because they are the people that God gave me to me Love.

We are all human and we all make mistakes, but that will never stop me from loving them. Yes they aren't my family, but they are family through being our church family!

"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends."

Friends are special people, and when you tell someone you're their friend, it shouldn't be until you decide you've had enough of their whining, or complaining, or even craziness. A friend is a friend forever!

I hope if you click on the picture to the left you can read the poem. This is how I feel about my friends. God brought us together for a reason and I'm not going to bail just because I don't feel like being friends any more. I'm going to be there as much as I can for you. I had wanted a picture or two of friends but they aren't in this computer....

I LOVE YOU my friends!

I love my future son in law and my daughter! They are a match made in Heaven! When we met Thomas R Reapsummer for the first time, my husband and I both knew this man was for our baby girl Tabitha Jane. He's not only proven to be what Tabitha needs but she has proven to be what he needs. I"m proud to say they will be married June 22, 2013 and we are very proud of them. We love Thomas not because he's going to marry our daughter but because God brought him into our lives. He is part of OUR family (well almost :) )

We love these 4 boys, even though they do drive us crazy at times. Then what would a family be with out wild (in the good sense) boys.

William Paul IV our oldest on the left back has really made us proud! We love him and thank God for his love for God, for his desire to do right!

Caleb Robert, who is 18 today, beside Paul IV. He is our family "clown" not always but he can make the roughest day seem better just by his sayings. He wants to serve the Lord through Evangelism.

Samuel Maurice, right bottom and Jason Maxwell, left. My 2 youngest although they really that young any more ages 15 and 13. Hard to believe how quickly they've grown. We are very proud of them and Love them also.

I've posted these various pictures not to just fill a page, but to show you I don't love because I feel like it, but because God tells me to love one another. Yes, my family I love because they are family, but I love them also because God gave them to me! It's not a chore it's a privilege.

I have 2 very special ladies in my life whom I call Mom, other than my own mother. These 2 ladies, I've grown to love as though they were my mother. Did I have to love them? No, but I chose to and these to wonderful ladies have given, listened, and helped me in many ways. God brought them into my life at different times. One while at college and I NEEDED an extra mom then :) She was able to help me when I had a rough time at college and couldn't get up with my Mom.

Then the other lady was while we lived in WV! She was, and still is such a blessing to me! There were times I needed someone to talk to and again getting up with my mom wasn't possible but Mom H was there. You know it doesn't hurt to love one as your own family.

Love is wonderful thing! So if you just take these scriptures and do as God commands, "That ye love one another, as I have loved you."

Pie in the ski

Good afternoon, as I sat here earlier today thinking of what I could post I had started several topics but they just didn't go anywhere. Then I was reading several blogs that I follow and I had read my Bible this morning but still there just didn't seem to be anything that the Lord was laying on my heart to share today.

When I post I want them to be something that will help others and/or something that has helped me through life. I started not to post at all today even though it's been several days since I had posted, but I just felt something was in my brain that just was stuck and couldn't escape. LOL :) So prayerfully something in this post will encourage or help someone.

I'm not sure where it came from, but the phrase, "Pie in the ski" came to mind. So, I looked up the phrase and here's what I found the man who wrote was very critical of Christianity. After reading that I started thinking that was back in the early 1900's and one man wrote a poem that well, he didn't really understand the Bible, heaven, or Christians.

Serving God is an honor, and we don't have to starve to do that. We can have our "pie" right here.

This is the Poem that Joe Hill wrote in 1911: (which by all means I believe that Salvation is crucial and that caring for the poor and hungry should be done also.

Long-haired preachers come out every night,
Try to tell you what's wrong and what's right;
But when asked how 'bout something to eat
They will answer with voices so sweet:

Chorus:
You will eat, bye and bye,
In that glorious land above the sky;
Work and pray, live on hay,
You'll get pie in the sky when you die.

The starvation army they play,
They sing and they clap and they pray
'Till they get all your coin on the drum
Then they'll tell you when you're on the bum:

Holy Rollers and jumpers come out,
They holler, they jump and they shout.
Give your money to Jesus they say,
He will cure all diseases today.

If you fight hard for children and wife
Try to get something good in this life
You're a sinner and bad man, they tell,
When you die you will sure go to hell.

Workingmen of all countries, unite,
Side by side we for freedom will fight;
When the world and its wealth we have gained
To the grafters we'll sing this refrain:

You will eat, bye and bye,
When you've learned how to cook and to fry.
Chop some wood, 'twill do you good,
And you'll eat in the sweet bye and bye.

Then I found where he mentioned the dear old Hymn "In the Sweet Bye and bye"
The Author:Sanford E Bennett wrote this song in 1868

There’s a land that is fairer than day,
And by faith we can see it afar;
For the Father waits over the way
To prepare us a dwelling place there.

Refrain:
In the sweet by and by,
We shall meet on that beautiful shore;
In the sweet by and by,
We shall meet on that beautiful shore.

We shall sing on that beautiful shore
The melodious songs of the blessed;
And our spirits shall sorrow no more,
Not a sigh for the blessing of rest.

To our bountiful Father above,
We will offer our tribute of praise
For the glorious gift of His love
And the blessings that hallow our days.

We need to make sure that people are saved and on their way to heaven! Soul winning is so crucial and we each need to be out there telling others of Christ.

Just to think that somewhere beyond the clouds is a wonderful place called Heaven! I don't know about you, but I can't wait to get there!!

John 14:2-3 "In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you, I go to prepare a place for you.
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself: that where I am there ye may be also."

Today the term Pie in the Ski means to happiness, maybe something good will happen soon. Just an interesting thought I came across.

At the Cross
At the Cross
Where I first saw the light
and the burden of my heart rolled away
It was there by grace
I received my sight
and now I'm happy all the day!

Or

This world is not home I'm just a passing through
My treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue

Are you in your Spring or Fall???

Are you ready for Spring?
You know Spring is a wonderful part of the yr.
Everything is green, brand new, and beautiful!

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
Ecclesiastes 3:1

There's a time for things to grow and things to die. That is what I really enjoy about the seasons.
Spring time - things are brand new
Summer - they get the sunshine and rain needed to live
Fall - things begin to die
Winter - brings the beautiful white snow and watering the seeds for Spring growth.

"To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the Heaven:"

In people lives we have Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter so to speak.
When you receive Christ you are in your Spring and Summer time.
Growing Spiritually through Prayer, Bible reading, Preaching, soul-winning.
Don't allow your walk with God go into the Fall, that could be a time
you're back sliding, or things to you seem to be dieing. This will happen because we're human.
Since we are human we will have "fall" in our lives but we want to make sure we don't
stay in that part of life. If you are down you want to work towards Spring again.
Don't become satisfied with where you are spiritually, We need to constantly be growing.

"Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path."
Psalms 119:105

We need to allow the "snow" of winter cleans us to help us grow again in Spring.
We can allow the freshness of winter be that lamp unto our feet.
As the snow is beautiful right after it falls, so are white as snow to Jesus as a Christian.
Allow the "watering" of the snow to help you grown in closer to the one who died for you on the Cross and the one who rose again and lives in Heaven.

As we await his return we should be growing more like him each day.
After all we are created in his image.

At the cross, At the cross where I first saw the light
And the burden of my soul rolled away
It was there by grace I received my sight
and Now I am happy all the day.

As Adam and Eve once walked in the Garden of Eden and enjoyed all the beauty God had given them, you and I can have fellowship with God and enjoy all He's given us.
During your Spring time of life, GROW!

Read your Bible Grow every day
Grow every day
Grow every day
Read your Bible Grow every day
and you'll Grow, GRow, GROw GROW!!!

This is what we want to do is Grow in the Lord and become MORE Christ like!
Did you know Christian means Christ Like!
That is how we are to act, speak, do is Christ Like.

So as the verse says:

"To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:"
Ecclesiastes 3:1

You will have your "Fall" but be sure to hurry back to "Spring"

The Tongue

James 3:5 "Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things, Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!"

Oh be careful little tongue what you say
Oh be careful little tongue what you say
For the Father up above is looking down in love
Oh be careful little tongue what you say.

As a parent I've always known that what you say there's a 99% chance your little one will repeat you. Well, it doesn't stop when they get older, you still need to be careful what you say around your teens also but they do talk. This weekend I have 2 of my little nephews here and they are like little Parrots :) Are you careful what you say? The tongue maybe little but it can be very harmful!

Ephesians 4:29 "Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers."
Vr 30 "And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption."
Vr 32 "And be ye kind one to another tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you."

This weekend I'm watching 2 of my nephews, their momma is very sick and has been in the hospital for 32 days, just getting out yesterday. To help their dad out we have them. Well, today Caleb my 17 yr old was talking to the youngest who's 4 and explaining that lieing is wrong. Well, as I was listening in on this conversation my nephew says to Caleb, if lieing is wrong isn't saying mean things wrong too. He's one smart little boy! I thought of the verses I posted from Ephesians for Christians corrupt could be saying a mean thing to your brother, sister, a friend. It may not be a curse word but if it's not uplifting, encouraging then certainly it's not clean and therefore it would be corrupt communications. We are told clearly in the Bible that it's not to come out of our mouth.

Do you want to grieve the Holy Spirit with corrupt communications?
As adults, teens, children we need to guard our spirits. We need to keep our heart, mind and soul clean and clear of corrupt things.

When someone does say something to you that isn't right, remember to forgive them. Just as verse 32 says, "...even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you."  You need to forgive!

So as the song says,
Oh be careful little mouth what you say
Oh be careful little mouth what you say
For the Father up above is looking down in love
Oh be careful little mouth what you say!
