2,012 in 2012

I was going to do a regular devo today, but I was thinking about what our Preacher had said on Sunday 4/22/2012 and how we need to share the blessings of God that took place at our church, Shenandoah Bible Baptist Church.

We had many goals that day for reaching 2,012 people in Sunday School. It took a lot of hard work and prayer.
Each bus route had a goal to bring so many to church on their routes:
Here a a few: my husband had wanted to double his attendance of 34; he had 75!!!
Paul IV, Rt 1 captained by Bro Gary Martin had 150
Caleb, Rt 9 captained by Jareb Moore had 101
Samuel's rt captained by Scott Garner had 23 (new route)
Then our Deaf Rt which is captained by Bro Ken Davis had 15

Our bus ministry goal for all the routes together was 1,000 and we had 1500!!

Then the Deaf SS class where my hubby and I work had a goal of 14 and we had 19!!!

The goal for all the SS classes together was 2,012 are you ready for the final count that was given Sunday Night after all attendances were in...... Our church had in attendance for Sunday School 2,664 People!!!

Now this is all exciting and wonderful but the most spectacular the most incredible news of all is that 421 precious souls accepted Christ at their Saviour that day!!!

God is so good and he blessed the prayers and hard work of our church by giving us above and beyond our goal!!!

Just something I wanted to share with you.

Reggie..... This will touch your heart!

They told me the big black Lab's name was Reggie, as I looked at him lying in his pen. The shelter was clean, no-kill, and the people really friendly. I'd only been in the area for six months, but everywhere I went in the small college town, people were welcoming and open. Everyone waves when you pass them on the street.

But something was still missing as I attempted to settle in to my new life here, and I thought a dog couldn't hurt. Give me someone to talk to. And I had just seen Reggie's advertisement on the local news. The shelter said they had received numerous calls right after, but they said the people who had come down to see him just didn't look like "Lab people," whatever that meant. They must've thought I did.

But at first, I thought the shelter had misjudged me in giving me Reggie and his things, which consisted of a dog pad, bag of toys almost all of which were brand new tennis balls, his dishes and a sealed letter from his previous owner.

See, Reggie and I didn't really hit it off when we got home. We struggled for two weeks (which is how long the shelter told me to give him to adjust to his new home). Maybe it was the fact that I was trying to adjust, too.
 Maybe we were too much alike.

I saw the sealed envelope. I had completely forgotten about that. "Okay, Reggie," I said out loud, "let's see if your previous owner has any advice."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To Whomever Gets My Dog:
Well, I can't say that I'm happy you're reading this, a letter I told the shelter could only be opened by Reggie's new owner. I'm not even happy writing it. He knew something was different.
So let me tell you about my Lab in the hopes that it will help you bond with him and he with you.
First, he loves tennis balls. The more the merrier. Sometimes I think he's part squirrel, the way he hoards them. He usually always has two in his
mouth, and he tries to get a third in there. Hasn't done it yet. Doesn't
 matter where you throw them, he'll bound after them, so be careful. Don't do it by any roads.
Next, commands. Reggie knows the obvious ones ---"sit," "stay," "come," "heel."
He knows hand signals, too: He knows "ball" and "food" and "bone" and "treat" like nobody's business.
Feeding schedule: twice a day, regular store-bought stuff; the shelter has the brand.
He's up on his shots. Be forewarned: Reggie hates the vet. Good luck getting him in the car. I don't know how he knows when it's time to go to the vet, but he knows.
Finally, give him some time. It's only been Reggie and me for his whole life. He's gone everywhere with me, so please include him on your daily car rides if you can. He sits well in the backseat, and he doesn't bark or complain. He just loves to be around people, and me most especially.
And that's why I need to share one more bit of info with you...His name's not Reggie. He's a smart dog, he'll get used to it and will respond to it, of that I have no doubt. But I just couldn't bear to give them his real name. But if someone is reading this ... well it means that his new owner should know his real name. His real name is "Tank." Because, that is what I drive.
I told the shelter that they couldn't make "Reggie" available for adoption until they received word from my company commander. You see, my parents are gone, I have no siblings, no one I could've left Tank with .. and it was my only real request of the Army upon my deployment to Iraq, that they make one phone call to the shelter ... in the "event" ... to tell them that Tank could be put up for adoption. Luckily, my CO is a dog-guy, too, and he knew where my platoon was headed. He said he'd do it personally. And if you're reading this, then he made good on his word.
Tank has been my family for the last six years, almost as long as the Army has been my family. And now I hope and pray that you make him part of your family, too, and that he will adjust and come to love you the same way he
 loved me.
If I have to give up Tank to keep those terrible people from coming to the US I am glad to have done so. He is my example of service and of love. I hope I honored him by my service to my country and comrades.
All right, that's enough. I deploy this evening and have to drop this letter off at the shelter. Maybe I'll peek in on him and see if he finally got that third tennis ball in his mouth.
Good luck with Tank. Give him a good home, and give him an extra kiss goodnight - every night - from me.
Thank you,
Paul Mallory
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I folded the letter and slipped it back in the envelope. Sure, I had heard of Paul Mallory, everyone in town knew him, even new people like me. Local kid, killed in Iraq a few months ago and posthumously earning the Silver
 Star when he gave his life to save three buddies. Flags had been at half-mast all summer.

I leaned forward in my chair and rested my elbows on my knees, staring at the dog.

"Hey, Tank," I said quietly.

The dog's head whipped up, his ears cocked and his eyes bright.

"C'mere boy."

He was instantly on his feet, his nails clicking on the hardwood floor. He sat in front of me, his head tilted, searching for the name he hadn't heard in months. "Tank," I whispered.

His tail swished.

I kept whispering his name, over and over, and each time, his ears lowered, his eyes softened, and his posture relaxed as a wave of contentment just seemed to flood him. I stroked his ears, rubbed his shoulders, buried my
 face into his scruff and hugged him.

"It's me now, Tank, just you and me. Your old pal gave you to me." Tank reached up and licked my cheek.

"So whatdaya say we play some ball?" His ears perked again.

"Yeah? Ball? You like that? Ball?"

Tank tore from my hands and disappeared into the next room. And when he came back, he had three tennis balls in his mouth.

How do you present yourself?

Good Morning!
I hope that as you go about your daily duties that you remember that one thing is present yourself as Christ would!

Romans 12:1 & 2
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

These verses have always been some of my favorite, and you may say, Paula, you say that about a lot of verses. Well, I'll be honest with you, The Bible is my favorite book. So I have a lot of favorite verses :) So my question to you is How do you present yourself when you are at work? school? play? out with friends? or whatever you do.

You are to be Christ like and in order to do that we have to:
1. Not conform to the world ~ what does this mean? It's simply that you don't let the world pull you into it's web of sin.
2. Be transformed ~ Be Christ like not world like
3. renew your mind ~ constantly be feeding yourself on God's word and on things that are of God, such as Godly music, not the so called Christian Rock..... stop and think about it does rock-n-roll and Christian really go together? You can't combine a good and bad together and expect it to be good.
4. prove what is good ~ Prove to the world that the Christian life if good.
5. prove what is acceptable ~ Let your friends know what is acceptable to you. Don't say, "whatever" NO stand up for what you stand for.
6. Perfect will of God ~ don't you think that presenting yourself as Christ is the will of God. He wants and knows what is the Perfect will of God for your life. Let him show you.

So as a Christian, yes I, we, fail. BUT we can get back up and we can do what we can to live in a way that we present our bodies a living sacrifice holy acceptable unto God.

You ask how can I show I'm Christlike?
1. your language
2. your appearance
3. your dress
4. your attitude
5. the way you treat people
These are just a few of many, many ways you can present yourself.

Do you have Heartache's?

I Peter 5: 1-7 Looking at verse 7 "Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you."
What burdens and heartaches do you have today?
Are you feeling as though no one cares that everyone and everything is against you?
Friend there is no need to feel that way! God is always there no matter what your situation. My former Preacher as well as my current Preacher told/tells people when you feel down, GO do something for another! You know what that really helps!!

The song No One Ever Cared for Me Like Jesus comes to mind....
Vr 1 I would love to tell you what I think of Jesus Since I found in Him a friend so strong and true;
I would tell you how He changed my life completely,
He did something that no other friend could do.

Chorus: No one ever cared for me like Jesus,
There's no other friend so kind as He;
No one else could take the sin and darkness from me,
O how much he cares for me.

Friend if you haven't accepted Christ you will feel that no one cares.
If you are backslidden an out of God's will, you will feel that no one cares.
If you are not in your Bible and praying as you should, you will feel that no one cares.

Why not turn today make that change! I know my Jesus cares and I know he hold tomorrow.

I Peter 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
Are you financial trouble? Cast it on Jesus
Are you at the end of your rope? Cast it on Jesus
Whatever your situation, friend Please don't cont one more day feeling no one cares! Turn your life around, turn your eyes upon the ONE the ONLY who can and WILL help you. Your heavenly Father.

The End times

Good afternoon, I know many of us don't want to think of the end times. There is so much happening in the world today that we must stop and realize the Bible is being fulfilled. If you look at Revelation so many things are taking place and it's just a matter of time (we don't know when) that the Lord's going to say, bring my children home. Are you ready?

In II Timothy 3:1-5 we read:
This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
Without natural affection, truce-breakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
Have a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

Are you one of the things listed in these verses? Are you tired of fighting? Don't give up!! God will call his children home, but do beware of those who, are what is describe in these verses. They will pull down or you will pull another down.

Look to Eastern Sky, be a soul winner, be faithful in your service to God. Most importantly Know FOR SURE 100% that you ARE SAVED!!! Once you get saved, you are saved for EVER!!!

If you are not sure and you are reading this please cont to read:

The Bible Way to Heaven

1. Realize your Condition
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
No one is good enough to go to Heaven on his own merit. No matter how much good we do, we still fall short.

2. Realize the Penalty for Sin
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death....
Just as there are wages for good, there is punishment for wrong. The penalty for our sin is eternal separation from God in Hell

3. Believe Christ Died and Rose again for you.
Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Christ's great love for us was shown when he died on the cross and rose again from the dead to pay our sin debt.

4. Trust Christ Alone as your Saviour
Romans 6:23 ...but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the lord shall be saved.
Everlasting life is a gift purchased by the blood of Jesus and offered freely to those who call upon Him by faith.

Let us help you word a prayer. Realize it's not mere words that will save you, but your faith in Jesus Christ.

Dear Jesus,
I know that I am sinner. I know that because I am a sinner, I deserve Hell. I now trust You, and what You did for me to take me to Heaven when I die. Thank you for saving me, Jesus. AMEN

If you read this accept the eternal security of knowing you have a home in Heaven. Would you please e-mail me at: our7isheaven@yahoo.com I would love to rejoice with you in knowing that you accepted Jesus Christ as your Saviour.

Be a Missionary

Be a Missionary every day, tell the world that Jesus is way
Be in it in the town or country or the busy avenue
_________ or ________ the task is up to you (I left the places blank because ANY place could be put in)
So Be a Missionary, God an Emissary, Be a Missionary today!!

Acts 1:8
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Did you know your town (Hagerstown for me) is my Jerusalem? I need to be a Missionary telling others of Christ in my Jerusalem.
Then Judea is the state or part of the US where I live such as Northeast states.
Next I'm to be a Missionary to the US by supporting the starting of other churches within our Great country. I can't go and maybe you can't but we can support them through our church.
As we all know not every one can go to the uttermost parts of the earth. However someone who knows the Lord wants him in Africa, China, Australia, Iraq or where ever we support them not only financially but through prayer support!

So are you a Missionary? YES!!! We are all Missionaries NO matter where we live.

What do you battle in your thoughts?

I realize tomorrow is Easter and some of you may have been looking for a post on Easter. I believe though that I need to share this. Someone, somewhere is struggling and they may need this just to make it through tonight, or tomorrow maybe even the wk.

Ephesians 6:12
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

I was reading through some things I shared with a friend who asked me to help her/him with something. Now I'm no scholar on many, most topics, but the Bible and yes other people are well educated in area's. I can tell you, you can NOT allow Satan to overcome your thought life.

If I can say one thing DO NOT ALLOW SATAN TO TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR THOUGHTS!!!
We are human, we have worldly thoughts, but we need to focus on the right things.
Are you hurting?
Are you going through something?
Do you feel all is against you and you allow the Devil to enter into your thoughts?

The Bible clearly states: For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

BUT we can over come that. Think on these things: things that are lovely, of good report, pure, clean....

Dear friend,
I don't know what your thought life is like but if you don't stay in the Bible, pray, stay as close to the Lord as you can. You will have problems. So if you are problems with this please go to www.youversion.com sign  up if you don't have an account then go The Battlefield of your Mind... I may not have the title exact but you will know when you find it.

As I close out today, I pray that as tomorrow is Easter Sunday or as we call it Resurrection Sunday that you will take a moment to think about Jesus and all he DID on Calvary for you!

So what do you wrestle against in your thought life?

What do people see?

Ruth 2: 7-8, 15-18
7. And she said, I pray you let me glean and gather after the reapers among the sheaves: so she cam, and hath continued even from the morning until now, that she tarried a little in the house.

8. Then said Boaz unto Ruth, Hearest thou not, my daughter? Go not to glean in another field, neither go from hence, but abide here fast by my maidens:

15-18 And when she was risen up to glean, Boaz commanded his young men, saying, Let her glean even among the sheaves, and reproach her not.
And let fall also some of the handfuls of purpose for her, and leave them, that she may glean them, and rebuke her not.
So she gleaned in the field until even, and beat out that she had gleaned: and it was about an ephah of barley.
And she took it up, and went into the city: and her mother in law saw what she had gleaned: and she brought forth, and gave to her that she had reserved after she was sufficed.

I love the story of Ruth, it is so.... Oh encouraging especially in today's world where things are rough, an money is not much, food cost have gone up, gas and milk cost the same.... There is so much we can learn from the story of Ruth.

As you know, God will provide for you. As we read through Ruth we see at first she only got the remnants of the field. Later it changed. Why do you think this happened?
You may not think so but People watch you. They see how you respond to various things, they see how you respond to life.
Ruth, I see as a lady who read her Bible daily and that prayed daily. When people see you do they see through your life that you Pray and read your Bible daily?
Ruth was a very persistent lady, are you?

Ruth shared what she received. Do you do this or do you go to church and glean from the preaching but NEVER share....
Do you receive daily food but yet you don't feed those in need?

Boaz saw how Ruth was she shared what she gleaned and then he gave her more! People do notice what you say, what you do, how you respond etc.

Oh be careful little hands what you do
For the Father up above is looking in love (or we could say: For the people here on earth are watching you to see.)

Oh be careful little mouth what you say
For there are little ears that are listening to your every word....

I know this isn't the actual song but you get the point. When you think your alone, Your NOT!!!
So are you a Ruth?
