Submissive

Are you Submissive according to God's plan or your own?
This really got me thinking this evening as Preacher spoke on wives submitting themselves to their husband. I don't know about you but I'm pretty independent! I like to do somethings my own way.
I will be the first to admit that being submissive isn't always easy.

I mean come on, when hubby thinks we should spend money this way but I want to get this one thing that really doesn't cost that much and he says no. Am I thinking "wives submit yourself to your husband?" NOPE!
Do I submit? I can say, Yes,
With the right spirit? not always but I do submit to him.

Why do I submit?
First off I'm to submit to him as unto the Lord. Ephesians 5:22 "Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord." If I'm submissive to the Lords will then I will want to and I WILL submit to husbands will!

Secondly he's the head of our home Ephesians 5:23 "For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church...." So in order for my husband to do as he should I must do my part and submit.

Did you realize by not submitting to our husbands or other wise not obeying them it can be blasphemy to God?
In Titus 2:5 we're told, "To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, OBEDIENT to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed."
Here blasphemed means to be slandered or be littled I don't think any one of us want to do that to our Lord or our husband! If you speak negatively about your husband you are be littling him and this isn't good. We don't go around blaspheming God or at least we shouldn't be so do that to our husbands.

Oh be careful little mouth what you say! Oh be careful little mouth what you say.
For the Father up above is looking down in love
Oh be careful little mouth what you say!

So as we look over our lives and look into our future. Do we want to be submissive in God's way, obeying what the Bible teaches? Or do want to do it in your own strength and risk having an un-peaceful home, marriage, and even training our children that submissiveness isn't important when it is! This is pretty serious, I barely touched on it the topic.

Obedience is the very best way to show that you believe,
Doing exactly what the Lord commands (submitting to our husbands)
Doing it happily (with a smile not a frown)
Action is the Key to obediently JOY you will receive Obedience is the very best way to show that you believe!

My goal is in 2010 to make sure I'm training my daughter to be a submissive young lady, to obey her future husband and most importantly that I'm submissive to my husband who is the head of our home!

O B E D I E N C E obedience is the VERY best WAY to show that you believe!

May God Bless your relationship with your husband in 2010!!!

Do you turn away anger by your words?

Proverbs 15: 1 "A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger."

Have you ever wondered how your words affect people? One of my boys was in a habit of name calling although we corrected and disciplined him for it. He still seemed to "thrill" from it.
Well, I was looking for the day he would over do it. That day came when he called one of his brothers a name and he became angry.

1. name calling is wrong
2. name calling does hurt
3. name calling makes you look bad

How can we turn away that wrath/anger?

1. speak softly
2. be more aware of what you listen to. What goes in the heart will eventually come out of the mouth!

Do you have a wholesome tongue?
Prov 15:4 "A wholesome tongue is a tree of life; but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit."

To you give life through your speech??

15:13 "A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken."

Have you noticed when your right with the Lord, when you've read your Bible as you should, had fellowship with the Lord through prayer that you have a cheerful countenance about you?

vrs 33 "The fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility."

If you or someone you know has problems with using their words wisely, not calling names, stirring up anger. I pray in some way this is a blessing to you.

Do Unto Others as You would have them do to you.

As I reflected back over a few things I got to thinking how we should do to others as we want done to us.

We want to be loved, should we not love.
We want kind words said to us, should we not say kind words to others.
We want (and whatever it is we need to always remember and ask ourselves would I want this done to me?)

Matthew 7:12a "Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them...."

If you have a hard time with this go to John 15:5 "I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
We as Christians need to depend on Jesus to help do to others as we would want them to do unto us. I know it's hard at times to do what is right to another, but with Christ I can do ALL things!

Galatians 6:10 "As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith."

Lets see who we can do good today! It maybe a friend, maybe a child, maybe a neighbour, it doesn't matter we need to "DO unto others as we would have them DO unto us!"

This is the day that the Lord hath made I will rejoice and be glad in it.
May God bless you and in some small way I pray this little brief devotional is a blessing to someone.

The Birth of Jesus

Have you really thought about Christmas and Jesus birth.

J - Justice
E - Eternal
S- Salvation
U - Unchanging
S - Saviour

Luke 2:10-15
"And the angel said unto them, Fear not; for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace, good will toward men."

What do you think it would of been like to be there that night that Jesus birth was announced? I can't even begin to imagine how it would be. All I can say, Is this was a glorious, miraculous event that gave us our Salvation.

Even the Angels were praising God. We need to on this December 25th that it's Jesus' birth day not Santa's!

What's the real reason for Christmas? JESUS!!

Have a very Merry CHRISTmas Not X-mas! Christ is still alive, Christ is still our eternal security, Christ is FOREVER!!

S-N-O-W

Have you ever thought what SNOW could stand for?
Did you know that snow is in the Bible 24 times?

I am sitting here at my desk looking out the window, it's beautiful, clean, pure and white! This can be applied to the Christian life in so, so many ways.

Beautiful - we are beautiful in God's eyes. He made us in His image!
Clean - Our hearts our clean (if you've asked for forgiveness of your sins)
Pure - this is what we are to stay for your future mate (if not already married)
White - Simply White as snow!

Mt 28:3 His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:

Isa 1:18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

Just 2 of the 24 I found today :)

Well, if you are getting snow I pray all stay safe and enjoy the beauty of if. If you don't have snow, we'll pray you get some :)
Merry Christmas

Exhortation to Praise God

Psalm 116

"I LOVE the Lord, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications.
Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live.
The sorrows of death compassed me,and the pains of hell gat hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow.
Then called I upon the name of the Lord; O Lord, I beseech thee, deliver my soul.
Gracious is the Lord, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful.
The Lord preserveth the simple; I was brought low, and he helped me.
Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for the Lord hath dealt bountifully with thee.
For thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feef from falling.
I will walk before the Lord in the land of the living.
I believed, therefore have I spoken; I was greatly afflicted:
I said in my haste, All men are liars.
What shall I render unto the Lord for all his benefits toward me?
I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the Lord.
I will pay my vows unto the Lord now in the presence of all his people.
Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.
O Lord, truly I am they servant; I am thy servant, and the son of thine handmaid; thou has loosed my bonds.
I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the Lord.
I will pay my vows unto the Lord now in the presence of all his people.
In the courts of the Lord's house, in the midst of thee, O Jerusalem. Praise ye the Lord."

I love the book of Psalms and this is just one of them.
I love the fact that God inclines his ear to ME! That as long as I'm alive I can call unto him for my needs, desires, and even more importantly I can Praise him, Worship him and enjoy fellowship with God daily!

Merry Christmas
Paula

I've so much to share!

Good Evening everyone!

There's so much to share and blessings that are simply amazing as to how they came about. One thing I can say is that, "My God shall supply all my NEED according to his riches in glory!"

He not only only supplied my NEED but he also went above and beyond. With it being the Christmas season and with so much going on; I believe we all need to focus on what God has done for us through out this year.

I won't be long on this this evening because I have much to do,. As we enter the Christmas season lets not become tied up the commercialism of the season but rather the giving of the season.
It is better to give than to recieve. Yes I LOVE to receive gifts, but you know it's so much fun to give!!! This is the first year in a while that we've been able to really do for others and we are LOVING IT!!!

So no matter what lets do SOMETHING no matter how big or small it is for someone else. Here's a list of people you could do for:
Missionaries
Your Pastor and his family
A shut-in
An elderly neighbor
A bus family

The best thing you could do for anyone is share the gospel with them on they can KNOW Jesus as their personal Saviour and have the eternal gift of salvation.

Well, I look forward to doing the devotionals again. May God bless you and Have a great a wonderful evening!

Thankfulness

Just a question for you to ponder:

Have you thank the Lord for your family? Have you really looked at each of your children (those who have children) and thanked the Lord that they are healthy and with you?

I asked this question after what our family has gone through this past wk. I have always been grateful for the children God gave me but after a car wreck and seeing the damage to our van. I realize anyone of my children could of been injured much much worse than what they were. I also realize it was the grace of God that we all walked away from this wreck!

Our children are given to us from God we need to be grateful for them and love them no matter what!

This is the day that the Lord hath made I will rejoice and be glad in it.

A study of Revelation

I'm taking material from my former Pastor, Dr Jack Hyles to do these studies. He never copy righted his books so people could reproduce them to help others. I will probably do a few lessons then go to something else then come back to it. I love his book on Revelation and want to share it with you.

So here we go on our Study of Revelation Chapter 1:1-3
Vr 1. "The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass: and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John."

1. The Revelation. The word means unveiling, uncovering, presentation, appearing, coming (as in a great performance when the curtain is pulled and the star is unveiled). The same word was used when Paul saw Jesus on the Damascus Road. This book, above all, shows the lord Jesus Christ and reveals Him to us. Hence, one who does not know Revelation cannot know Jesus as he should. What a shame that so many are so ignorant concerning this wonderful Book.

2. Which God Gave Unto Him. This probably means that God has given His son the glory of the coming Revelation because of the suffering that He endured. He shall avenge His death on the cross when He comes in His glory.

3. The word "servants" means literally, "bondservants." A bondservant was one who had completed his time as a slave, but out of love for his master had volunteered to continue to be a servant. This is the kind of servant God wants.

4. "Shortly" in this verse means "speedily" or "surely." In other words there is no doubt that the things written in this Book will come to pass.

5. You will notice that this message was given to John by an angel. Read Revelation 22:9. Some think that this teaches that this particular heavenly messenger was one of the Old Testament prophets. This may be true.

6. We find the writer in this verse. It was John, the apostle. We will find in verse 2 which John it was speaking of in verse 1.

Vr 2 "Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw."

In vr 2: This verse says that the John verse 1 mentions is the one who bore record that Jesus was the Word, and wrote that Jesus was the Son of God. Read John 1:1 and John 20:31 and you will see that it was the same John who wrote both books.

Vr 3 "Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of his prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand."

In vr 3:
1. Notice that God promises a blessing to those who study Revelation. Let us notice whom He promises to bless: 1. Those who read.
2. Those who hear.
3. Those who keep. ("Keep" means "to guard with care." So you can see that God will bless anyone who will observe or study Revelation.)

2. You will notice also we are to study these things because "the time is at hand." It is always at hand. In other words, it could happen any minute. We are to WATCH at all times because it could be today.

3. The word "blessed" is this verse means happy, contented, etc. The reason is that those who are looking for Jesus to come are the happiest people in all the world. Communism, atomic bombs, wars, etc., cannot keep the person from being happy who is looking up every day for the return of the King.
God also seems to abundantly bless the churches who believe and study Revelation.

I hope you will enjoy this as much as I do while I'm preparing each part to post. I have already in my own personal study using the Bible and Bro Hyles book learned ALOT!!!

With the Holidays forth coming

I have prayed about this and really felt that I should do this. With the holidays just around the corner we all have family and friends whom we'd love to see come to know the Lord. I would like on this post have prayer request for unsaved family. You may list them my name or however you would like.

Wouldn't it be a wonderful to see by the end of 2009 our family and friends saved. The time is short although we don't know when the Lord will return we need to see as many people as possible accept him as Saviour.

Matthew 5:14-16 "Ye are the light of the world. A City that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."

This scripture reminded me of the song, "This little light of mine"
This little light of mine
I'm going to let it shine
This little light of mine
I'm going let it shine
Let it shine
Let it shine
Let it shine

Shine all over Martinsburg (your town)
I'm going let it shine
Shine all over Martinsburg
I'm going let it shine let it shine
Let it shine

Let it shine till Jesus comes
I'm going let it shine
Let it shine till Jesus comes
I'm going let it shine, let it shine
Let it shine.

I just love this song and the truth behind it!
I mentioned putting a post with names of those you want to see saved. The Bible says in Act 16:31 "And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house."
Psalm 98:2 "The Lord hath made known his salvation: his righteousness hath he openly shewed in the sight of the heathen."
Psalms 55:22 "Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee; he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved."
I Thessalonians 5:24 "Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it."

One last scripture and for the life of me I can't remember where it's found but it says,
"Where 2 or 3 or gathered together in my name there shall I be also." (I don't I think I quoted exact) But if we join together in prayer for our unsaved loved ones and friends, Great and Mighty things can happen.

I'll start the list:
In-laws unsaved
Uncle David T.
Uncle Hopson G. (cancer not doing well at all)

Call upon the name of the Lord and thou shall be saved!

This is the day that the Lord hath made I will rejoice and be glad in it.

Fire Escape Plan

Have you ever noticed that when your in a Hotel, school, store or maybe your home there's a little map on how to leave the premises in case of fire? Why do they put those maps out? It's to protect us so that we don't die in the fire or get trapped.

God also has a Fire Escape Plan it called the Plan of Salvation! We can escape the fire of eternal torment and pain if we accept his free gift. The verses I'm going to share with you is the Escape route from the Fire of Hell.

You can escape this fire from anywhere in the world! How to know 100% for sure, without a doubt, that you WILL go to Heaven!
Friend, did you know that YOU CAN know how to escape this fire?
In I John 5:13 it says, "These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God." All you need is to believe on Jesus and you can have eternal life in Heaven and not in the Lake of Fire.
First we need to realize that we are ALL sinners. Who is good??
In Romans 3:10 it tells us: "As it is written there is none righteous, no, not one." and in Romans 3:23 it tells us, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God,"
See with our sin we can't go to Heaven, you, me and anyone who doesn't believe in the Son of God come short of the glory of God.
You may ask well, where did Sin come from:
Romans 5:12 says, "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:" That one man was Adam. I'm sure you've heard the story of Adam and Eve. Well, because Adam chose to eat of the fruit Eve offered him it caused them to know sin.
Revelation 20:14 says, "And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death."
Because of sin we could be trapped by the Fire with no escape. God payed a price for that sin for us.
Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

If we choose not to obey the maps placed in hotels, schools and other places our payment for is death, but the management in these places gave an escape. It's your choice what you do with it. The same with our sin, God made a way of escape from the eternal fire of Hell.
We can pay for our sins ourselves or we can except God "escape plan" free gift!

Our way out is shown to us in Romans 5:8 "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners Christ died for us."
Romans 10:13 "For whosoever (put your name here) shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."
Can imagine being loved so much that Christ died for YOU! IT's true Jesus died on the cross and rose again in 3 days and he loves you so very much he wants you to escape the fire!!

Romans 10:9-11 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed."

It's that wonderful the following steps:
1. Confess your sins
2. Believe in your heart
3. Receive Christ!!!

I can't think of a better escape plan from the fire!!
Hebrews 11:6 "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him."

Friend if you have read through this and you realize that you have never accepted Christ, I want to invite you to do so. Here is a simple prayer that you can pray to accept Jesus.
Dear Jesus,
I know that I am a sinner; if I died now in my sin, I would go to Hell. Right now, by faith, I am trusting You as my personal Saviour and my only hope to Heaven. Thank you for dying on the cross for me and for saving me from an eternity in Hell.
In Jesus name,
Amen

Now friend, if you just prayed this prayer and accepted Christ into your heart I would love to hear about it and to rejoice with you.
You may leave a comment here or you may contact me through e-mail. I have it set up where you may e-mail me.

I pray that someone who reads this will see the importance of escaping the Fire! Not just in our daily lives but in our eternal life!

This is the day that the Lord hath made I will rejoice and be glad in it.

What do you give?

Luke 21:1-4 "And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury.
And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites.
And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all:
For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had."

I always have loved this story in Bible. When I see those give who have little but yet others gripe of giving when they have an abundance. Our family has always given to the Lord of our increase. I can remember growing up and after my folks were saved, us giving at church.

I won't go into tithing and how much and all that. I just wanted to share this passage of scripture with you and how that no matter how much or little we have we should give to the Lord. Why? He will bless those who give. It doesn't matter if it's your money, your time, your service if you give with a cheerful heart to the Lord he will bless you.

I want to share with you a time from our time on the road that God blessed us and I to this day believe it was because we gave to him in many area's. We were in Illinois I want to say Pekin but for some reason that doesn't sound right. Anyway, our RV had broken down (not an usual thing for us lol) we were sitting in the parking lot of a Tractor Supply store. This man, we NEVER saw again, came up and said, I'm from this church and hands us a flier. Well, we called the Pastor as he suggested and went from there.
The Pastor had us "limp' the RV to him, just a few blocks away. Put us in their former parsonage, called different church members and they brought groceries and such. We asked about this man, and told the Preacher what he drove, when the Pastor says, Nope! No one hear by that name and no one hear drives that type of truck.

Now to back up to the day before: We had stopped to help someone that was broken down. Then preceded to our mtg that evening. We always, or most always, tried to give in the offering simply because we had so much done for us we felt that was what God would have us do. My husband put money in the offering plate that evening which meant we had just enough to buy a days worth of groceries.

Well, when we got to this church on Monday, they not only gave us a days worth of groceries but probably a wks worth, a place to stay, fixed our RV, gave us mtg for that Wed, plus much, much more! God blesses those who give! We weren't as poor as the widow, but we didn't really have it to give. Although because we felt that God would have us give offerings at churches we visited, and we obeyed the Holy Spirits leading each time as to the amount. He blessed in abundance!!

Do you give with a cheerful heart or do you give because we're commanded to give? Do you give of your time freely or do you complain?
Let's doing and give all so that God wants to bless us above and beyond what we do and give! Serve the Lord with gladness!

I pray that in some way this devotional is a help and blessing to someone today!
May God bless you , and have a great wkend.

Ask and believe, ye shall recieve

Mark 11: 23-26 "For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith,
Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have aught against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses."

As I was having my devotions today I was reading Mark 11 and these verses really stuck out. There are several things in these verses that could be covered. Asking, desiring prayer, forgiveness just to name a few. The one topic I'm going to focus on this evening is Asking and receiving. We all pray, or I would hope we all do, and we want to answers to those prayers.

I was thinking of things we as a family prayed for and the prayers that were answered. I'm going to go back to 1990, Christmas. My boyfriend, now my AWESOME husband, was having Christmas with my dad, mom and I when dad asked that we join him prayer for the salvation of his mom. The 4 of us on Christmas morning knelt together and prayed that the Lord would touch grandma's heart and that she would accept Him as her Saviour. After we had prayed daddy went to his room and called Grandma. Well, mom, Bill and I cont to pray for the Holy Spirit to move and for Grandma to be saved. December 25, 1990 we saw our prayers Answered!!! My grandma accepted Christ, through our prayers, my daddy witnessing and the Holy Spirits working in her heart she was saved!! I LOVE to tell this story about grandma's salvation. Why? One reason she's on her way to heaven, another it's a wonderful example of prayer, asking and receiving.

To skip up almost 2 yrs, was 7 days after Tabitha was born. We had, had our first born home for only 2 days when she became ill. Tabitha had a fever of 105 and NO explanation. We rushed her to the hospital and the admitted her into NICU where she would stay for 14 days. They ran test after test our precious baby girl, to finally learn in the end she was a lazy eater and had dehydrated! The prayers though that went up for our dear little daughter. I believe that it was because of our prayers, asking and believing that God would take care of her and heal her if it be his will, that he chose to break the fever and let the doctors find the problem. Again prayer, asking and receiving.

February 3, 2003 we left our home, friends, family and church to start out on the road of Missions! There was A LOT of praying that went on that day. Through the several yrs that we traveled the children learned the true meaning of prayer and receiving. There was times we had only a few dollars to purchase food, but there was ALWAYS enough for everyone. There was times we didn't know how we would get to our next meeting, the Lord ALWAYS answered our prayers and we made it. Sometimes a day late sometimes just barely in time for the service but we made it. The Lord knows what we need we just need to ASK, BELIEVE, and then he will give!

There was times we didn't receive. You may ask Why? You prayed didn't you? Yes we would pray but I believe that God was seeing if we had Faith to rely on him. We stepped out, or may I say rolled out by faith not knowing what would happen, where this or that would come from. Although it didn't come in our timing God provided because we went and didn't say, "Well, I prayed but God didn't do his part; so we're going to sit right here!" NO it doesn't work that way.

Just in the last few wks we had a huge need that needed to be filled. We prayed and the need, needed to be cared for on Sept 25. Well the morning of the 25th came, nothing. The afternoon came, I called my husband, still nothing. That evening came around, Bill and I both had been praying earnestly for the need, and still nothing. Saturday morning came we're like ok Lord, we believe you'll care for this (always faith with a little doubt you know) that afternoon we're thinking ok, we have to make this phone call. Well at 5:45 Sat evening we got a call, "Bro Seavey, if you can meet us at such and such place we have something for you." My husband says, "Ok I will be there." He comes home everything was cared for!!! AMEN!!! God is good! The need was covered and we were able to make the call letting the person know it was all good! Talk about stress, wondering what was going to happen, but God came through. Prayer, asking and receiving!!

If we just simply believe, pray and ask God is in control and even if not in our timing he will give!

I pray that in some way this was a help to someone and a blessing. Have a great wk!

Who's Your Best Friend?

On Friday at our basketball game I was watching several little girls play on the floor in front of me. One of them I know fairly well and the other 2 I'm getting to know. The one young girl pulled her friend aside and said, "Your my best friend lets leave her." I watched as the girls walked away from the 3rd little girl. The pain, and hurt that came into her eyes. I started thinking how often do we do that to Jesus. As the young girl sat there and cont to play by herself, but she wasn't as happy as when the other 2 girls were there. The verse in Proverbs that says, "A friend loveth at all times...." The other girls came back over and without one bit of hesitation, the 3rd young girl asked, "do you want to play with me now?" WOW!! Even though the other 2 had been mean she still offered to play with them.

Proverbs 27:6 "Faithful are the wounds of a friend...." Are we like the little girl who remained a friend or do we push the friend aside because he or she was cruel to us.
Jesus gave his life for us. Do we treat him as the 2 little girls did their 3rd friend? OH not today Jesus, I'm to busy with ________________ and whatever it is.
Did you think to pray this morning ere you left your room??
Jesus is to be our "BEST" friend! God is our father!! The Holy Spirit leads us.
Who do you prefer over Jesus?
Do you push him aside in your daily activities?

I love the little song J-O-Y
J is for Jesus he is the way
O is for others tell them today
Y is for you my FRIEND why don't you come to Him.
Joy is the way you feel when you let him in!!

Jesus first
Others Second
Yourself last

J-Joy
E-Eternal
S-Salvation
U-U he loved enough to die for
S-Security

Lets be as the little girl who was left alone but when her friends returned she accepted them back with no hard feelings! Then most importantly lets NOT push Jesus aside and forget him in our daily lives.
I pray that as you read this in some small way it has helped you or been a blessing to you.
Have a great wkend.

24 Fallacies Seen and Heard

In our Church paper that we get once a month this was listed and I thought I'd share them with you:

24 Fallacies Seen and Heard on 24 Hours of So-Called "Christian Television" By J N Hamblin
1. Any version of the Bible is okay from which to read, memorize and study. (Psalm 119:89)
2. A believer can be saved today, then do something wrong and be lost tomorrow. (John 10:28)
3. Fundamental churches are not the supportive base for the Christan to be taught the great tenets of the faith. (I Corinthians 13:10)
4. Speaking in an "unknown" tongue is for today. (II Timothy 4:3)
5. Teaching is always placed on a higher plane than preaching. (Matthew 13:42)
6. Pope Benedict XVI, Benny Hinn and Billy Graham are all great spiritual heroes and leaders (Ephesians 5:19)
7. Hell does not have scorching, literal flames. (Matthew 13:42)
8. The world's music must be brought in to the church if the church is going to reach the world. (Ephesians 5:19)
9. Tithes and offerings should be sent to the jewelry-draped false prophet living in the lap of luxury. (Romans 10:17-18)
10. Pragmatism is the touchstone by which everything is perceived. (II Samuel 6:3)
11. The teacher you watch in the morning will be contradicted by the preacher that you watch in the evening. (I Corinthians 14:8)
12. Fundamentalists are "mean" and Narrow" people. (Galatians 4:16)
13. You can be a "great" Christian and still play in the stadiums on Sunday mornings and sing in the nightclubs on Wednesday evenings. (II Corinthians 6:17)
14. Dancing is an approved practice, even in a church service. (Mark 6:22)
15. It is absolutely all right to replace your "prayer closet" with a "prayer line." (Matthew 6:6)
16. Apostasy, false teaching and heresy are always embraced. (Jude 3)
17. Trends, not truth, are the banner for "Christian" dress and demeanor. (Romans 12:2)
18. All your sickness is because of your lack of faith. (John 9:3)
19. Emotionalism, not the Eternal Word of God, is the measuring stick for every sermon and service. (John 4:24)
20. A "preacher" can wear a wig, a dress and even carry a purse to the pulpit. (I Timothy 3:2)
21. Television "preachers' never attack drinking, immorality or gambling. (Isaiah 58:1)
22. The Roman Catholic Church is a Christian Church. (Revelation 17:1)
23. You won't need to turn to 24 Bible verses in 24 hours of watching so call "Christian" television. (John 5:39)
24. Salvation is so complicated that it resembles asking a blind man to drive an automobile in reverse from Juneau, Alaska to Key West, Florida. (Romans 10:13)

What the Bible Says about:

The Head of the church and family....

Ephesians 5:23-27, 29 "For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.
Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth it , even as the Lord the church:"

I love this passage of scripture! I can't imagine life without my husband and even more so, I can't imagine me running the household and being the "head". When God put man in charge he sure knew what he was doing. Now I can control things and I can be a leader, proof of the pudding I've been a bus caption, I work with children in several area's. However, there are things that man can care for that I honestly believe woman would put to much emotion and mood into and it could be pretty rough!

My boys, all 4 of them, love me as well as their dad. I tell you though when dad comes home it's wonderful cause he's the bread winner, he's the head of our home, he's the spiritual leader! As Christ is the head of the church, Bill is the head of our home!

Vr 24, states that the church is subject to Christ an so is the wife to her husband in everything.
To me if the church is accountable to Christ which it is. Then we as the wife are accountable to our husband. I will admit I'm independent and I don't always want to go through Bill before doing things. Now, I have gone and made a purchase or spent money, that later he's asking me why? These times made things difficult. Why? I didn't bring it to my husband. Yea, in my mind I justified it, but when you have a budget you can't do that.
If you're single, Of course you can't go to the man. However, you can take EVERYTHING to prayer. I have done this, with shopping. Last wk my youngest 2 boys needed shoes for gym and basketball. Well, they are suppose to have one pair for each. We couldn't afford 4 pairs of shoes, not mention what my oldest boy needed shoe wise. We went to K-mart and found my youngest shoes for $20, then went to Payless shoes down the street and found my other's sons shoes for under $25! I thanked the Lord for this, I believe the reason we found the deals was because I went to Christ in prayer about this. Now when I went to my husband and said this is what the boys need, he gave me the total we had and the Lord blessed because I went to the head of our home and then prayed about that we could find something within our range!

Hebrews 13:7, 17 "Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation.
Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you."

I don't know what the problem is with submission, as children we had to submit to our parents, in school you have to submit to teachers and principals, as adults you have to submit to your boss, and rules of the road ect. So why is it so hard to submit to our husband? and God?
If we are to obey them that have the rule over us, then why don't we do it?
Reason being we have a sin nature and we are human. If you weren't trained, raised or taught to be submissive then you would need to learn how to submit.
I've noticed with my own children as well as myself, when submission isn't there things are alot harder on the person than if, we, just submitted and obeyed.
If we will just remember that there's more joy in submission and obedience I believe as wives, children, or anyone life would be much better for us.

I pray that as you read this that some little part of it will be a blessing or help someone in an area of their life. Letting our husbands have rule, being submissive isn't always easy, but we through Christ can do anything. When you get up each morning, make sure in your prayer time you ask the Lord to help you be submissive and even through out your day. My God is a mighty God, and Nothing is impossible with God. I CAN do (submission) all things through Christ which strengtheneth me!

Bible Truths about......

As I looked at the following scriptures I thought of my daughter. Without going into detail she was falsely accused in an area and rumors were started. I have watched her over the past 2 wks and she showed many things that are spoken of in the following verses on Forgiving Others

Colossians 3:13 "Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye."

As I watched Tabitha she presented a Christ like attitude towards the ones who started rumors about her. She forgave them and cont on with her life.

Phil 3:13, 14 "Brethern, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus."

I've seen so much of vr 14 in Tabitha. She took a wrong and has completed put it behind her and is pressing to for mark. She wants to be a music major and this child has said, "I"m going to forget the first wk of school and focus on choir, ensemble, piano and voice! That's EXACTLY what she has done!! More people need to do this and not worry about the past!

Matthew 5:44 "But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;"

Romans 12:21 "Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good."
I Peter 3:9, 10 "Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessings; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.
For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:"

As Christians we all need to take these verses and realize forgiveness is needed in our every day walk. As my daughter has taken and forgiven and even befriended (not best friends)the one who started the rumor. So are we to not intentionally hurt others do evil to them. We are to love life and make every day a good day. One of my favorite verses is: "This is the day that the Lord hath made I will rejoice and be glad in it." That is looking at today as a good day! I've watched blessing upon blessing come to my daughter as well as myself just by forgiving, and loving life!

Responsibility

Deuteronomy 6:6-9 "And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:
And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and then when thou risest up.
And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.
And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates."

Vr 7 is the vr I'll be looking at here. Today as I go into the Kindergarten class, so the teacher can go teach Home Ec I could tell she was just having a rough day. We were talking for a few minutes, and this dear teacher has a HUGE responsibility!!
1. She has to teach K-5 and get them ready for 1st grade!!
2. She has to keep a good spirit no matter the situation with the student.
3. She has to correct them even when she doesn't want to.
I would be willing to say that the K-5 teacher has shown TRUE responsibility. She praises her students even when they are having a bad day. One little boy whom is VERY talkative and reminds me of children I know.....clear throat* Is having to be trained how to respect property, do his work, play nicely, and so much more. When i was talking with her today, she was praising his work ethics and how well he listens and other things. She didn't focus on the negative. To me this teacher showed diligence in her responsibility as a teacher!

We also need to be responsible. If you work in a nursery, on a bus route, in the school or your church, or even your job in the world. BE RESPONSIBLE!!! If they can't depend on you being responsible who can?!

Again, I hope that in some small way this little lesson is a help or blessing to someone! I pray that tucked away somewhere in this simple lesson, it helps someone to learn forgiveness or even responsibility.
May God bless you!

Our Bible is:

The Infallible Authority
II Timothy 3:16 "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness."

This is such a wonderful thought, that ALL scripture is given by inspiration of God! If we only had man's words to go on. That wouldn't be a whole lot! Praise the Lord that his word is inspired!!
Not only that it's profitable for doctrine! We've been studying Doctrine in SS at our church and I just love it! There's so much that could be said, about doctrine, reproof, correction and instruction! God simply gave it ALL to us through His Word!!

Hebrews 4:12 "For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."

Can you imagine (as Christians I'm sure we can) but can you imagine the Bible being sharper than ANY two-edged sword! WOW!! Our Bible is our Sword!

I Peter 1:23 "Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever."

Our first birth, of blood and water was corrupt and that is why we are sinners; but praise the Lord our 2nd birth, salvation, is incorruptible! Yes, we are still sinners BUT we are saved by grace AMEN!!!

Our Guide for Life

Psalm 119:105 "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path."

If we would only study the Bible and learn it as we should God says, thy word is a lamp AND a light! We just need to take it and us it!!

Proverbs 6:22, 23 "When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thy awakest, it shall talk with thee.
For the commandment is a lamp and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:"

As I've been going through this and studying it I'm just amazed how God knew what we needed, when we needed it and everything! I grew up in Church, I've had the privilege of attending Christian School all my life, the Lord allowed me to attended Bible college. Now, my children are growing up in Church, attending Christian School and in a little under a yr. our oldest will go off to Bible College! Why am I putting this in? I believe it's all because I gave my life to the Lord to lead, keep and talk with me! I've to the best of my ability kept his commandments, even though I've failed, I still through prayer and Bible reading and asking forgiveness have done my BEST for him! We as individuals can do ALL do this. Yes, we'll fail.....However, God will be there to pick us up and carry us when needed. I love the poem "Footprints" I don't know or remember it all, but there's one part I really loved most and that's where it says, I looked and saw only one set of footprints. Jesus was carrying me isn't that an AWESOME thought!!

II Timothy 3:16, 17 "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works."

I know I used this verse earlier but again it just shows that God is there for us! No matter what through his word he's there!

Our Strength

Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."

This is one of my MOST favorites verses (I know that's not the best grammar) but it carries so much truth! I won't belabored this vrs, because I have done a study on it already, but just imagine; wait on the Lord and he SHALL renew thy strength! WOW!!! He gives us strength when we're weary, faint, it doesn't matter, he gives strength to make it!

Psalm 27:1 "The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?"

With the Lord we have no reason to fear or be afraid! God isn't the author of fear, confusion or any of the things that would cause uneasiness in our lives. He's our Salvation! He died on the cross and rose again 3 days later so you and I could rest and have peace in the fact we have a loving Heavenly father who loves us and cares for us and gives us the strength needed to make it day by day!

I pray as you read through these verses that in some small way, you were encouraged or helped today! May God bless you and Have a WONDERFUL week in the Lord!

My Happy Bubble

I fixed the problem from when I tried to post this before :) Sorry for the delay.

This past wkend at our ladies mtg one of the ladies spoke on her "Happy Bubble"! It was a very good lesson. So I thought I'd take and share some of her thoughts. Then share some of the things I would consider my "Happy Bubble".

What is your Happy Bubble, does is help protect your spirit, your attitude, your spiritual needs? God gives us the Bible, Prayer, Church, Christians we can fellowship with. This could be in your "happy bubble". I know for myself when I'm at church I'm IN MY HAPPY BUBBLE! Why? I'm in an area of my life that is uplifting, encouraging, helps me to repair things in my life that needs to be repaired!

So What is your "Happy Bubble?"
I got to thinking about it.......
Family! You say, that is everyone's "Happy Bubble" not necessarily though! Those with broken homes, those who have to live in orphanages those homes that don't know Christ as their Lord.
Why do I consider family my "Happy Bubble". I can list so many things that it would take way to long but these are a few things with family that makes them my "Happy Bubble"
1. Honey, I'm home! ( I love it when my husband walks through the door after work!)
2. Mommy, I love you! :D
3. Mom, I need to talk with you.
4. Mom, I need help with ____________ and whatever it is.
5. Mom, how do you do __________________?
6. When we have family time and everyone is laughing and enjoying themselves!
Just a few things that makes family one of my Happy Bubbles!

Another thing that "makes me happy". I love to decorate! Just ask my husband! I have tons of boxes with nothing but decorations in them!!! If you go into my garage (well not today lol) usually you go in my garage and I have a summer section, fall, winter, spring and then like in Winter it's broke down to just winter items and Christmas items. Fall is the same way it's in 2 parts. If have a few days I'll take and clear all my walls pull all the furniture to the middle of the room and totally re do it! I didn't spend a lot of money just re did it all. :) That's a Happy Bubble for me cause I love new and fresh!!

Then another thing that since 1991 has been my happy bubble is Lighthouses and Nautical items!! My husband and I both grew up on the coast. He up in Maine and myself in NC! I have so many lighthouses that if I put them all out there wouldn't be room for anything else. So in the summer that's how I decorate and I always have at least 2 lighthouses through out each room (except for the kids rooms).
Lighthouses though have such history and even spiritual truth to them.
If you've ever studied lighthouses they are really unique. I won't take the time now to go into it. But if you think of Jesus as a Lighthouse here's some things that will show why they are my Happy Bubble!
Lighthouses: Shows the way, helps protect in the storms on the sea.
Jesus: Shows us the way through life through his word, Protects us through the storms of life!

These are 2 basic things however there is much more! I know I'm not quoting this exact but:
The Bible says, I'm the way, the truth, and the life.... I love it! As the Lighthouse, Jesus shows the way, shows the truth (dangerous waters ahead) and saves life!

These are some of my "Happy Bubble" things. I'd love to hear some of yours! As Mrs Doss said in her lesson, ANYTHING can be a "Happy Bubble". How do we handle things? Complaining? Griping? Pouting? Or do we "go" to our "happy bubble" where we can put things aside. You know when your in your happy bubble you can Pray, Read your Bible, talk with God!

When I 'm decorating (re-arranging) I use that time to pray, listen to the Bible on CD. What better way, and place to do it! My children are usually outside playing or gone someplace when I do this. I always try to decorate when hubby isn't home unless it's Christmas when family does this together!

Have a wonderful wkend everyone!

Vote for Jesus!

Joshua 24:1 "And Joshua gathered all the tribes of Israel to Shechem, and called for the elders of Israel, and for their heads, and for their judges and for their officers; and they presented themselves before God."

14-15 "Now therefore fear the Lord, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the Lord.
And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve: whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house we will serve the Lord."

Everyone can vote for Jesus! We can vote for Jesus to lead our country. We can vote for Jesus as the one we'll serve and we can vote for Jesus, for our family!!
1. Simply Vote for Jesus John 1:29 "The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world."
Make Jesus the Lord of your life! How? By praising him at church and away!

2. Vote for your Church!
Do you LOVE your Church? BE FAITHFUL!!!

3. Vote for you Sunday School!
4. Vote for the Bus ministry!
5. Vote for America!
Do you LOVE your country??

6. Vote for Soul-winning!
Mark 16:14 "Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen."
Be faithful to Soul-winning ministry! Don't be hit and miss. People are dieing and going to hell without Christ they have no hope!!

7. Vote for our Public Service!
Police, Fireman, FBI, Game Warden ect.
8. Vote for our Service men!
We should vote for and support our service men! They are fighting in these wars to protect us, and keep America Free!!
9. Vote for Children!
Psalms 127:3-4 "Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth."

10. Vote for Salvation and Baptism!
This outline is from one of our Preachers sermon! I with school starting and with so much happening this time yr it's a good reminder to Vote/support different things.

Words Fitly Spoken

Proverbs 25:11 "A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver."

Psalm 19:14 "Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer."

Philippians 14:8 "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report: if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."

In looking at these verses words need to be honest, pure, lovely and of good report!! Our words should be fitly spoken. Last night my daughter received a phone call that was VERY hurtful! The young person who called her was suppose to be a close friend. There are a few others that decided it would be cute to start rumors about 5 of our good young ladies in our school. One of which was my daughter. I will not go into details about the rumors. However it made me think. As Christians we need to watch our words.

1. Words fitly spoken won't hurt others.
2. The meditation of your heart will come out of your mouth eventually.
3. Our words should be acceptable by Christ

Phil 4:8 truly says it all!

I went to these verses this morning in my devos, as mother I wanted to lay into a few people. Would of said the right things, my very wise and loving husband also reminded me in anger things are made worse. The motherly instinct wanted to attack, thank the Lord though I let the proper authorities take care of the situation.

Now, my daughter and the 4 other girls now have some pretty devastating things to work through, but they have the support of their parents and a godly principal and the best Pastor ever!!

I love the children's song:
Oh be careful little mouth what you say!
You can say things of encouragement or you say things that are hurtful. So be careful little mouth what you say for the Father up above is looking down in Love so be careful little mouth what you say.

Phil 4:8 Finally, brethern, whatsoever things are true (telling the truth)
whatsoever things are honest (don't lie to make yourself look good)
whatsoever things are just (spreading rumors is not just but evil. Theres intent to hurt)
whatsoever things are pure (make sure your speech is from a pure heart)
whatsoever things are lovely, (make sure you speech is lovely, or kind)
whatsoever things are of good report (telling the good things such as: Our church is starting a Bible college. Don't be a gossip or rumor spreader.)
if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise,
think on these things. Think on the good not the bad!

With Christ....

In My Vessel I can smile at the storm.

Have you ever thought about what that is saying? As I started learning the song to interpret for our Ladies mtg in a wk. I really started thinking about the meaning.
With Christ in my vessel....Now for the deaf because our theme is for the mtg is "Under the Sea" we'll be signing "Christ in my boat". What does vessel mean though? It's actually our body, our heart our soul. The Bible teaches that our bodies are the Temple of the Holy Spirit. Isn't that an awesome thought. The sad part is we so often destroy our bodies but not taking care of it.
How are ways we destroy our "vessel?"
1. Not eating right
2. Drinking things that aren't good for us.
3. I'm not indicating that anyone does this but smoking it destroys our lungs.
4. Not exercising as we should to stay in shape.
5. Not bathing daily
So much more I could go into. Now I will admit a few of these even I'm guilty of! I very much dislike exercising by myself, so therefor I don't get to it. It's not right which is one reason I'm making a bigger effort to loose the weight I need to this yr.
I know this isn't a confession time, but how many drink soda? You know I absolutely enjoy an ice cold Diet Cherry Dr Pepper! If I'm not careful I will drink several in a wk sometimes in a day.

I Corinthians 3:16
"Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?"
Now what can we do to keep our "vessel" clean?
1. Eat the right kind of foods!
2. Drink lots of water (ideal is 1/2 your body weight)
3. Exercising Daily
4. Keep ourselves clean

So, With Christ in our vessel we can do what? Smile at the storm! I thought smile at the storm?? Well, it's simply saying if we have Christ in our heart when the "storms" of life come we can smile because we have Christ in our Vessel therefore we don't need to worry about life's storms!

So without Christ in our vessel we may do things that would be harmful to ourselves and we can't smile at the storms of life. BUT WITH Christ in my vessel I can smile at the storm!

Verse to Meditate on....

With School starting I Love to go through and pick out verses that will be help for my children. I thought I'd share these verses, when we home schooled these verses were the first ones to learn each yr.

Ephesians 4:32
"Be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you."
As parents, teachers and children we all need:
1. To be kind - kindness should always be a part of our every day way of life.
2. Tenderhearted - if you notice a fellow class mate or co-worker having a rough day be tenderhearted with them.
3. Forgiving - if someone does wrong towards you, forgive them! After all Christ forgave and forgives all we do wrong!
Maybe just maybe you'll be considered more Christ like if you do these 3 things.

II Timothy 2:15
"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."
1. Study! As teachers and students we need to study! As the teacher if you don't know your materials you won't do as well. As the student if you don't apply yourself and study it's more difficult to pass.
2. Work - work hard where your not ashamed of your grades.

I Corinthians 14:40
"Let all things be done decently and in order"
As a former home schooler I would have this posted in the front of the classroom and typed out then taped to their desk.
1. If your desk is in order things are alot easier get to.
2. If we do things decently and order imagine how much better our classes, day, wks, months even our year will go!

Ephesians 5:2
"And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour."
1. Love - we should love one another! Hate is NOT of God, if we hate someone we can't love.
2. If we love as Christ loved us just think how much better it will be. Be Christ like and love as Christ loves us!

Why Teachers Fail

This is from Teacher Orientation, and our Preacher came up before lunch and spoke on this topic. I thought since many are home school parents and teachers that I would share this with you. Unfortunately I didn't get all the points, but I will get the rest tomorrow.

Why Teachers Fail Heb 5:12
1. Teachers fail because they aren't willing to change.
2. Teachers fail because they wont' take correction Prov 9:8
3. Teachers fail because they don't personally know the material II Tim 2:15
4. Teachers fail because they don't have a walk with God - Be Christ Like!
5. Teachers fail because they are not organized - Isaiah 28:10
Be readable by your students, they do know you.
6. Teachers fail because they lead and respond by emotion not by principle. Jeremiah 17:9
7. Teachers fail because they don't review the material immediately before teaching.
8. Teachers fail because they won't put a fresh coat of paint on an old lesson.

(I'll get 9-12 tomorrow)

Just a few thoughts as you prepare to teach your children or someone elses children. Are you going to fail or succeed??

....strength is made perfect in my weakness....

II Corinthians 12:19 "And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."

What a wonderful thought that our strength is made perfect in weakness. The Lord gives us the perfect strength that we need in our time of weakness! I started this week in a "weak" way. I had been ill for several days and had to go to work anyway. It didn't really matter that I had been sick I had a responsibility.
Through the strength of the Lord and praying for strength I made it through and although I was very tired had a good day!
Job 12:3 "With him is wisdom and strength, he hath counsel and understanding."
1. With God is wisdom and strength.
2. With man you can receive wisdom, but we should gain our wisdom mainly through God. Now God uses, Pastors, teachers, laymen to teach us wisdom and then we gain it by going to God's word. We also gain our strength through God's word and studying God's word!

Ps 27:1b "....the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?"
1. Whom do you depend on for your daily strength? If we try to go in our own we won't make it.
2. But if we claim this verse Ps 27:1b and Phil 4:13 we can make it!!

Ps 84:5 "Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee: in whose heart are the ways of them."
1. Wow! what an awesome thought that we are blessed by having our strength in the Lord.
2. It is a very wise thing to depend on God for our strength.

Perfect- "There is none righteousness (perfect) no not one."
Wouldn't it be wonderful to be perfect?? Just think in Heaven we will be perfect! WOW Wouldn't it be wonderful to not have to worry of hurting another, saying something wrong, so on and so forth? However, since we don't live in a perfect world we can work towards that!

Deuteronomy 18:13 "Thou shalt be perfect with the Lord thy God"
Ps 19:7 "The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple."

In God's eyes we are perfect! You say how is that well I love this song that says it perfectly!

"What sins are you talking about?"
That is what Jesus says, when we ask for his forgiveness! He sees us a perfect white peace of paper never marked or scuffed. We are perfect.....so he says, "What sins are you talking about?"

James 1:17 "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh from the Father of lights...."
Salvation is the perfect gift! Once we realize we need Christ there is no better gift than the Perfect Gift of Salvation!!!

Psalms 23

One of my favorite passages in the Bible is Psalms 23 this is such a wonderful passage it's even a comfort to read in trials or tribulations.

Psalm 23
1. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
You know the Lord will guide us and lead us through life. Even when we don't want him to lead he's there.

2. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside still waters.
3. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of rightesousness for his name's sake.
It's a wonderful thing to know that when we're down the Lord leads us to green pastures (His Word) which feeds and refreshes us. Through that it restores our soul to what it needs to be.

4. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou are with me: thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
I thought of this verse yesterday as I prayed for the families in Gaylord MI. The wife who's expecting her first, lost her husband. The parents who although they have 4 other children lost 2 sons! The family who doesn't know if their son will live or die. They don't even know how severe his injuries are and if he lives how he'll be. You know though, these families walk through the valley right now, God will bring them to the Mountain top! They have no need to fear for God is with them. What an awesome thought!

5. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
The devil may attack us in our day to day lives, but the Lord is already prepared for our enemies. If we serve the Lord and do as he wants we can be assured that our enemies will try to attack. I honestly believe Grace Baptist church and the families there are going to see great and mighty things come from this accident. However they're will probably be attacks also. We can look to Jesus though and be assured that he is with us and our cups will over run with joy.

6. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
Isn't it wonderful that the Lords goodness and mercy are with us ALL THE DAYS OF MY LIFE?! When we finish our life here on earth we will DWELL IN THE HOUSE OF THE LORD FOR EVER!!

PS 23 is full of so many promises, helps and encouragement. This is one of many things that the Lord has shown me in this chapter!
1. The Lord is my shepherd!
2. He knows what we need, place of rest, water to drink, restores out soul to serve him and he's our Salvation!
3. He goes before us and we have no need of fear even in the valley!
4. Again, he goes before us and prepares for the enemy.
5. He shows each of us his goodness and kindness and has a home for us in Heaven!

What wonderful thoughts!!!
Thank You Lord for this chapter that is so full of LOVE, LEADERSHIP, GUIDANCE and so much more!!

Honoring Our Parents, Grandparents......

Dad and Mom Seavey (50th Wedding Anniversary!) Picture of my folks coming soon.
This is my Grandpa Russ and me :) wasn't I cute???? :D My mom called me today telling me that it's been 37 yrs, Aug 2nd, since her Daddy went to Heaven!!! He was 87 when he died, the unique thing about my Grandpa is he was born on Aug 2, 1887 at 1 in the afternoon, he went to Heaven on Aug 2, 1974 at 1:05 pm. Grandpa loved his children all 14 of them!!! He enjoyed each of his grandchildren and even great grandchildren also. My fondest memory of Grandpa was when I was 6 and 7 I would come in from playing out doors and he would say, "Little Man (this is what he called ALL his grandchildren) you have a speck of dirt on your cheek or face" I'd run in and wash my face and hands. I absolutely didn't like to be dirty. Then he would ALWAYS share is Coke Cola with me. No matter when it was and if he thought we, the grandchildren, should have a cookie, then we got a cookie! Grandpa was also the ONLY man I knew for the first yr-1/2 of my life. My daddy was in the Air Force and he was stationed in the Philippine Islands, so when I was born he wasn't there. But I LOVE my daddy very much!!

I have watched my mom and all her sisters and brothers honor their Dad when I was little as well as since his home going. When I was old enough to understand I decided that I was going to honor my dad and mom all their life!!

Ephesians 6:2 "Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise;
3. That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth."
This isn't exactly a devotional, but when my mom called and reminded me of my Grandpa this came to mind. So, if you've not spoke with your folks in a while maybe a call is something they need. Remember we can honor them more than just once a yr on Mothers Day, Fathers Day even Grandparents day.
The Bible teaches we are to Honour our father and mother. It's a commandment not a if you want to honour them, but a command that we are to do this. As my mom and her siblings that are still living do, they remember their folks even now that their dad is heaven.
Teach your children to honor their grandparents, I believe one reason our children should be taught to honor Grandma and Grandpa, is if wasn't for them we wouldn't be here. Without mom and dad our children wouldn't be here so we all need to honor both!!!

Character Traits (Committed)

I was going through some things and came a cross a list of Character Traits that at one time I was working on devotionals for them. I had not finished any one character trait and best as I can figure it was because of our travels and if I was asked to teach a SS class or speak at a ladies mtg, I would stop that and work on something else.

Any way all that to say, I thought I would pick this back up and periodically post various Character Traits. Todays is Committed.
Committed - Te devote or pledge (oneself) to the doing of something.
What are we committed to?
Church
Prayer
Bible Reading
Marriage
Relationships
Work
Play
Family
The Lord
I didn't listen these in any particular order, here I'm just throwing out some things we may be committed to.

Following are some Bible verse on commitment
1. Psalm 31:5 "Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou has redeemed me, O Lord God of truth."
Have you committed your spirit to the Lord. After all he was the one who saved you and gave you a life worth living!
2. Psalm 37:5 "Commit thy way unto the Lord: trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass."
3. II Corinthians 5:19 "To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation."
Christ, committed to forgive us our sins. Now he didn't have to do that, but He chose to and because of his choice we are forgiven. The least we as Christians can is commit to obey him by doing what he commands us to do. Don't be afraid to be a committed Christian.
4. II Timothy 2:2 "And the things that thou has heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also."
As Parents, teachers, SS teachers ect. we should be committed to our children (class). They depend on us to be faithful and to bring them what they need. Be a committed teacher, parent or whatever you do.
5.Job 5:8 "I would seek unto God, and unto God would I commit my cause:"
This one can go back to yesterdays lesson on "What is your Cause?" as well as today, are we committed. We really should commit fully to our Lord and the work he has set before us. We go about doing things half heartily we're not fully committed.
What in your life are you doing but not fully committed?

Again, for those with children starting school, encourage them to fully commit their whole heart in ALL they Do this school year!

What's Your Cause?

I Samuel 17:29 "And David said, What I now done? Is there not a cause?

What is your cause?
A cause is a purpose plus a little something extra!
What makes you go a little further?

What is your cause in your Christian life?? Do you do just minimal? OR Do you go a little further for the cause?
I asked my kids what their cause was and without giving their names this is what I got:
1. my cause is to graduate
2. my cause is to pass my my classes
3. my cause is to play hard
4. My cause is to see people saved on my bus route
5. my cause is to grow more in walk with Jesus
6. my cause is become a better prayer warrior
7. my cause is to love Jesus more
8. my cause is to win in the baseball championship game
9. my cause is to obey mommy so I don't get spanked
10. my cause is to follow God and do what his will is

All of these are from my children ages 10 to 17 I'm sure some of them you can tell it was a younger child, but they have a cause for their life.

What is your Cause??
Here are a few things that should be our cause:
1. Growing in God's Words
2. Prayer Warrior
3. Soul-winner
4. Doing your best in your ministry
5. To please God in all we do and say. To have a sweet attitude about what we do. The right kind of heart to better serve our Lord.
This is just a few but I'm sure as we think about our cause you could come up with much more.

vr 37 David said moreover, The Lord hath delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the Lord be with you.
David knew his cause! He obeyed the Lord and was delivered. He went and did what the Lord wanted for a cause.

Applying this to those starting school....
What is your cause for school? To goof off and stay in trouble, to do your work to just get by, OR To obey your teachers/parents, do your work to the best of ability doing your best for a cause! What is this cause when you think of school, it's to pass your classes and to cont on through school.

So I ask you what is your cause?

Proverbs 4: 1-5, 13

"1. Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.
2. For I give you good doctrine forsake ye not my law.
3. For I was my father's son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother.
4. He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments and live.
5. Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not: neither decline from the words of my mouth.

13. Take fast hold of instruction: let her not ; keep her; for she is thy life.

I was reading this today when I heard a LOUD crash in the kitchen! I'm thinking OH NO!! I go in and see my whole Lighthouse dinner setting busted on the floor! Samuel is crying, Jason is standing there just staring like he's not sure what to do!

Naturally I wanted to pitch a fit, cause they had done something I had told them not to do, but I had to first find out if everyone was ok. . I'm going to apply this in away that I hope it will be a blessing or help to someone.

1. I can praise God that neither of my boys were hurt. Am I upset I lost an 8 place setting? yes, but more importantly my boys weren't cut or hurt.
2. Would shouting at them accomplish anything? No, but they learned a lesson an gained wisdom from it. They learned that you have to do things in a certain order. As the Bible says, Do things decently and in order. They were doing the decently and they were partially following instruction, but the part they didn't do resulted in a mess.
3. Did they disobey? Yes, they had done something they were told not to do, however they learned a lesson. Why can't I, we, forgive when something not so pleasant happens. I'm sad my about my plates, but more pleased with the fact they learned a lesson and they are sorry for what they did.

Pr 5:1-2 "My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding:
That thou mayest regard discretion. and that thy lips may keep knowledge."

After we, they, got everything cleaned up and I told them calmly how they were to do the job they listened and understood why the first way was not good but gained a little wisdom in how to do the job completely right.
I must say I'm very pleased with my boys and that they took the disciple and correction well.

School

Well, as much as we may not like it or as much as we do, it's school time again :)
I was going through stuff looking to see what needed to be purchased for the new school year and trying to figure out things. When I came across this in one of my kids notebooks from last year.

II Timothy 2:15
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a woman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
S-don't study and be stupid (So I'll do all my work and study)
T-be a time waster or Use your time wisely with your studies (I will use my time wisely)
U-U forget things--U fail! (I don't want to be the U who fails)
D-determination or dumbness your choice (hum.....no not really I want determination and pass)-
Y-don't ask why just do the y and you'll pass Algebra :D

As I read this I though WOW!! There are some good points there! This was written by one of my teens who doesn't really care for school but put his whole being into learning and making sure he passed his classes.

When we read our Bible do we read it to barely make it or do we do as my son and go for all it's worth. Now I know the y won't help us much as far as how he applied it to Algebra, but he has some good points there.
S-Study! Learn God's word know it inside and out. Meditate on God's word day and night!
T-do you waste time or do you use your time wisely, you know you could have a time that maybe you watch an hour TV show, you could read your Bible, maybe to much time on the Internet...You know I sat down one day and timed myself on how long I was on the computer. When I sat down, I thought I'm going to check e-mail, go to my blog (at the time only 1) and get off. Do you realize I was on the computer for 2 hours!!! Was that a waste of time? YES!!! So I decided from then on I would set a timer. I have much to do and can't sit at my desk that long doing just Internet. Since then with the exception of my devotional blog I never go on more than 30 min at a time unless I plan it!!!
U-Don't be a person who forgets. U can make list, have a schedule and DON"T be the "U" people look at and say, he/she is forgetful.
D-Determination! WOW........I have seen so much determination in my boys that it's convicted about being determined! My 4 boys have dyslexia some more severe than others. Well, my 15 yr old couldn't read well as a 7th grader but he took and went from Failing ALL his classes the first semester to failing ONLY ONE at the end of the yr. Last yr, his 8th gr year, he didn't make below a C on ANYTHING!!! That's determination. Did I have to help him? YES! But HE DID THE WORK....DETERMINATION!!!! We should be that way with our ministry, our Bible and Prayer life Determine to GROW in the LORD!!!!
Y-well, I had a hard time thinking of something as did my son, but you know rather than asking WHY? Just do! My youngest boy will say Why do we have to do this? I simply answer, Did mom/dad say you had to? Yes, then that's why? Now I don't always answer that way, I will if needed give him the why because it will help him understand better why we do what we do. But, when he ask why do I have to do the dishes now.....that's a different story.
God tells us to witness, to be labors for him. Don't ask WHY just do it.
Maybe if we "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth" We would be better in ALL we do.....
1. Study as we should - you don't have to go to school to study
2. Be a good workman - do right and work your best in ALL things.
3. Keeping the word truth

Just a thought with school starting up here in a few wks. I pray even as parents we help our children to do what we know is right. Remember, "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it."

A Yo-Yo life......

Do you ever feel your life is on a Yo-Yo?? Like no matter what you can't get a grasp on life. The Bible has the answer on how you can take the Yo-Yo and turn it into a road of sweet rest. This actually came to being, after I had talked with a friend, she asked if dealing with somethings we're having to deal with right now made me feel like a Yo-Yo. Up and down, up and down, up and down one day it's up, the next day it's down......This set me to thinking about it. We can have a yo-yo of a life or we can have a peaceful quiet road of sweet rest.

Unsaved people will many times feel they are on a yo-yo. Why? It's harder to have peace about things when you don't have Jesus to guide you day by day. The Bible tells in Proverbs, Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy path.

My question to you friend is Do you want to live your life as a yo-yo? Wouldn't it better know 100% for sure that you are on your way to heaven and that life can smooth (now don't get me wrong, even Christians have bumps in the road) with Christ though we have no need to stay on the string of the yo-yo going no place!

I want to share with you a few verses:
Romans 3:10
"As it is written there is none righteous, no, not one."
This simply means none of us are perfect! We're going to try and make it on our own ending up on the yo-yo way.

Romans 3:23
"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."
We're all sinners, we make mistakes but guess what?! It doesn't end here.

Romans 6:23
"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
There is a payment for that sin, If we want to pay for it ourselves it's death and hell. However there's a free gift that you can have. That's the gift of God!

Romans 5:8
"But God commendeth his love toward us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us."
You know God loved us so much he gave his only son! WOW how many of us love someone so much we would sacrifice our only son for them?? God did and that is why we have the free gift of salvation.

Romans 10:13
"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."
Did you know that whosoever is You, Me, the person down the street ANYONE?! This takes me to July 25th, I was in DC with my church and the last house I stopped at was a Chinese man (deaf) He accepted this free gift through me sharing with him in sign language that WHOSOEVER believeth on Jesus CAN be saved! Jillian accepted Christ and he was excited that he was going to heaven.

He now doesn't have to live the life of a yo-yo not knowing if he's up or down, but he now has Jesus in his life and can live a life of sweet rest. Yes, he'll still sin, Yes, he'll still have things pop up in his life BUT he has Jesus to lean on!!

Leaning, Leaning, Safe and secure from all alarms, Leaning, Leaning, on the everlasting arms! Who's arms? Jesus!

Now, do I, did I feel like a yo-yo with this one situation YES!! BUT, I have Jesus to care for that situation and although my heart says one thing, my mind says another, the leader I'm talking with says another......We will have a road of sweet rest in the end. Why we KNOW Jesus as our personal Saviour and we KNOW he will take care of all the burdens and hard times that are ahead of us.

I know today's lesson is more for the unsaved, but to my friends who already know our wonderful Saviour and serve him daily. What little "Yo-Yo" in your life is causing you to not depend on God? What "yo-yo" is making the bump in the road worse that what it needs to be?

Turn that "yo-yo" over to Christ and he'll carry the burden for you.

Please let me know if you accept Jesus into your heart.

Jeremiah 33:3

Jer 33:3
"Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not."

Today has been spent a lot praying and asking for a few things. We've had some changes, in just 24 hours take place and it's going to prove interesting over the next few wks especially with school starting up in less than 3 wks.

We've not had an answer to our prayers yet, but the Bible clearly states "Call unto me, and I will answer thee...." as my children an I were talking early, one of them said, "mom, doesn't the Bible say, "Ye have not because ye ask not"? This was when we were discussing the cuts coming and changes that will take place between now and Sept 1st.

We are in anticipation waiting to see how God will fulfill this need we have. Another verse we looked to was "But my God shall supply all thy need, according to his riches in glory...."

If you have a need, a desire, an urgent matter, simply take it to the Lord. He wants us to bring our burdens to him and to let him carry the load. I don't know that this is much of a devotional but I thought maybe someone needed a reminder that God is in control no matter your situation. And as Jeremiah says, "Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and might things, which thou knowest not." It's not always easy to say, here you go Lord. You know what though, it sure makes life easier when you do.

My God is Near

Psalm 139: 1-12
"O Lord, thou has searched me, and known me.
Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.
Thou compassest my path, and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.
For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether.
Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.
Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?
If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou are there.
If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;
Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.
If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.
Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee."

Do you have days where it seems God is far off? Where no matter how hard you try he's just not there? I was looking for a song that a friend is needing and came across this song which was based on the above the scripture

MY GOD IS NEAR

vr 1 Make me know your presence, Lord the King of glory here. You know each tho't and action, hope, anxiety and fear. How can I hide from Thee? Can darkness hide iniquity? OH, how can I unfaithful be, when You are very near to me?

Vr 2 Make me know Your presence, Lord, when I feel so alone. You know each trial and testing, pain, the hurt that is "unknown." Oh, why can I not see Your hand so firmly guiding me? Oh, how can I untrusting be, when You are near to me?

Chorus: When God is near, all the world seems far away. When God is near, every fear is set aside. When God is near, how can I stray, how can I falter? I'll stay upon the altar. I know my God is near!

After reading the scripture and reading the song, it simply made it so clear that although we don't feel God is near, or feel he cares. HE DOES!!! I have not doubted his care, but I tell you such as yesterday I was wondering where is God, why can't get peace about this school situation. This morning once reading the scriptures and seeing this song I may not feel 100% "good" about the situation, but I know not only will God be with me he'll be with my children!

Isn't God Good?!?! GOD IS NEAR!!!!
