Growing Up

Today I was searching for Photos of my oldest 2 children and thought about this blog... growing in Jesus through His word. Just as my children have grown so much, we should be growing in the Lord. For fun I'm adding pictures of my 5 children and then will apply my topic Growing up.....

Tabitha when she was 3 wks old, such a sweet heart and as my parents called her a snuggle bug!

As you see if our children have grown up A Lot! They didn't remain little babies dependent on Mom and Dad but rather they are growing up and doing what the Lord would have them to do.

Just as a new born baby desires milk so do we as Christians desire the milk of God's word. Then as we get older we start eating things like meat, potatoes, carrots. As Christian we get into the meat of the word of God.

We are to grow daily in our Christian walk just as child grows daily in his/her physical growth.
I Peter 2:2 "As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby."

Have a time to study your Bible
Have a schedule that you can follow to read your Bible
As you read your Bible have a notebook that you can write down what you learn.

You know we are to spend time in God's word because that is how we grow spiritually.
Have a prayer time.
Read your Bible
Choose a verse to learn for the wk. By doing this you'll learn 52 verses a wk.
As you finish your Bible reading have another short time of Prayer.

Hebrews 13:15 "...let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually... giving thanks to his name." Thank the Lord for what you learn and what he's done for you.

See my children are growing up because that is what babies are to do. I fed them, took care of them, helped them, made sure that they were raised properly. Taught them the Bible and how to pray, the importance of growing in Gods Word. Today our daughter is a Sr in Bible College and marring a Preacher! Our oldest Son is graduating from High School and going off to Bible College in June to seek what the Lord would have him to do. Caleb our middle child will graduate High School next yr and he feels the Lord would have him go into Evangelism, so he, more than likely will go to Bible College also. See we trained our children in the way they should go..... Our prayer is when they get older they will NOT depart from it. Will all children do as they are trained? Sadly no they won't but if you as the parent do what you know God wants you to do and you train them, then you have done your part in their growth. Once they reach adult hood then they must choose what they've been taught or not.... My prayer not only for my 5 children but for all the children is that they serve the Lord in the area God puts them in. One of the ways they will stay in God's will is the same way you and I do. By growing in his word and learning daily.

Psalm 63:1 "O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee..."

Read your Bible, Pray every day, Pray every day
Read your Bible, Pray every day and you'll grow, grow, grow.....

Neglect your Bible, forget to Pray, forget to pray
Neglect your Bible, Forget to Pray and you'll shrink, shrink, shrink....

Which of these do you want to do?? A baby can't shrink he can only grow but as Christians our spiritual growth depends on if we Read our Bible and Pray daily or if we neglect the Bible and forget to Pray daily.

May God bless you as you Growinjesusthroughhisword!
