There is a season for everything....

Ecclesiastes 3: 1-9

1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
3 A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
5 A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
6 A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
7 A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
8 A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
9 What profit hath he that worketh in that wherein he laboureth?

I love the seasons, Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring! There are certain things that happen in those seasons for a reason. I mean wouldn't it be kind of weird (which I know it's happened) but if it snowed in July? Or grass started growing in December? Yea, I know depending on where you live maybe those months are that way, but in general everything has a time and season for each phase of life.

As we approach a rough time of year for us, this year I think about what we've gone through and how the Lord has used that to help us learn and grow. Do we still hurt? Do we still wish things were different? Do we want to turn the clock back and do things differently? Yes to all those questions and more BUT the Bible tells us that "To every thing there is season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:"

So because God has ordained in our lives a season for hurt, tears and pain it's not for a life time! As I've counseled with my Pastors wife, she's helped me to not only remember that it's not going to be like this forever, but that if I allow it, I can and will learn from it and I will heal. Might I say, I've allowed this to teach me and I've seen healing take place.

So when you are having a rough time or feel the world is caving in on you, Stop! Think! Learn! Grow! and if need be Heal! God has a season and time for each of us to enter and leave parts of our lives.

So, Just like the seasons we enjoy, though hard at times your "seasons" too are for a purpose.

One Flesh - Husband and Wife

Yes, we are one flesh when we say the vows at our wedding to love, cherish, and obey. Yep you and I are to love our husbands, cherish them, and obey them. I read a book just before I got married titled "Me, Obey him?"

In Ephesians 5:22-24 & 33 it says,

"22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.
23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.
24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband."

Now one of you maybe thinking nope, not submitting or obeying him! If you feel or believe this way, you aren't following the Bible. I will admit submitting to my husband isn't the easiest thing to do. We do all have our wills but our Husbands are the head of the home, he's to be the head as Christ is the head of the church.

So why not decided during the upcoming holidays, Thanksgiving, Christmas and going into the New Year that you are going to g submit and obey your husband.

Just as a side note One flesh isn't 2 women or 2 men - The Biblical way the One flesh is Man and Woman.

Give Thanks

I noticed a friend was doing a, Giving Thanks on Purpose on Facebook and as I thought about it, we have so much to "on purposefully" be thankful for. Yet do we really show our thanks, or tell the Lord thank you. Maybe it's doing something for another that you are thankful for. Maybe spending extra time in prayer thanking the Lord for all he's done for you, your family, your church, etc.

I know so many times November is looked at as the Thankful month, but when we stop and think about it isn't every day, every month, and every year is a time we can be thankful?!

So I'm not going to do the 30 days of Thanksgiving, but I'm going to simply be thankful ALL the time. Yes on Thanksgiving we take a little extra time to show our thankfulness; but not just for this short 30 days but year around show, tell, and express how Thankful you are ON PURPOSE!

Psalms 95:2 "Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms."

When we come before the Lord in prayer we should be giving thanks. After all he gave us life, breath, the ability to walk and talk. He gave us food, clothes, housing, and so much more. Make a joyful noise yea maybe you don't sing but that's ok!

So as we do enter the Thanksgiving season remember to be thankful but then even afterwards make sure to be thankful all year long.
