Psalm 23:4
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me: thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
I've been reading a book based on true stories in the ER. It's been really interesting though some of the stories don't have a happy ending I was thinking about how God is comfort to us. He comforts us in hard times, in the passing of a loved one or friend. He comforts us when we go through trials and gives us the grace needed to make it.
As I read this one story about a young 17 yr old boy who had been shot and before he ever went into surgery knew he wasn't going to live. Was this young man saved? We don't know the book never says, but I would say by the peacefulness that story implied maybe this 17 yr old boy did know the Lord. He told the nurse, I won't see you again here in the hospital, I'm not coming out of surgery. We, can have that same peace, and can have that peace if we have the Lord as our Saviour.
I love Psalms 23 and verse 4 was the verse used in this chapter, "...thy rod and thy staff they comfort me." Imagine we have a Lord that is with us and his rod leads us and the staff is there for comfort. What are you going through this Christmas season? What is it that you could give to the Lord and let him be your comfort?
Friend if you don't Jesus as your Lord you wouldn't understand what I speak of... If you are unsaved please continue to read.
You can know for sure right now without any doubt that Jesus loves you, forgives you of your sin and is there to comfort you.
In John 3:16 we are told, "For God so loved the world...."
That means my friend, that he Loves YOU! Put your name in place of world he knows YOUR name he Loves you.
"...that he gave His only begotten Son...."
Yes the Lord gave His only Son, Jesus, to die on the cross for you and for me. How many of us would be willing to give our Only child for someone? Well, our wonderful Lord was willing, and did give his Son. Why? So that you can have eternal life.
"...that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."
Again, friend you can take and where it says, whosoever, put YOUR name there. See our Lord loved us so much that he didn't want us to have to pay for our own sin. So he sent his son, to earth to take upon himself the sin of the world, to die on the cross with 2 thieves. Then Jesus died, was buried, but wait..... He didn't stay in the grave! NO he rose again so that you and I could have someone to Pray to. Someone to go to when in our valley's. To have someone who would NEVER leave us. To have someone to rejoice with us when it was time to rejoice.
Don't you want to have that same peace as we believe the 17 yr old boy in the story I read had. Peace in that whatever happened/happens God is there and his rod and his staff comforts.
As we go into the Christmas Season why not make the greatest decision ever and that is to trust Jesus Christ as your Saviour. Shared the gospel with your friends so they too can receive the Greatest gift ever that of Salvation.
For those of us who are already saved, don't forgot that the reason we have Christmas is because God Loves us and he wanted us to have his best, Jesus Christ. We already have the peace of knowing Psalm 23 and that "....thy rod and thy staff they comfort me." Don't forget to give of your best this Christmas season. It's not the gifts, or the tree, or the decorations. It's what can I give to Jesus for ALL HE'S DONE FOR ME?
Merry Christmas Friends!!!
